Still you don't know the whole scenario. There was 2 major reason first was warner bros didn't want this movie to be 4 hours 2nd during the movie shot his daughter commit suicide which breaks him down. You have given the wrong info about why the Snyder’s cut was released now. Snyder was earlier given the contract of justice league 2014 but was removed from the contact immediately afterwards with no legitimate explanation he and his family who had been working on this for a long time was deeply disappointed and started to fight with the higher executives of DC and also organized a campaign but DC still gave the contract to Wheldon shortly afterwards Autumn daughter of Zack suicided due to deep trauma they had to go through to get back the movie and after this incident Zack lost the will to fight for the contract and gave up and after the huge disappointment caused to DC by 2017 justice league, they eventually decided to give the contract for a remake to Snyder which he first refused but then agreed to ,in order to complete the wish of his daughter. DC’s management is cruel and has a history of bad decision making which has caused the decline of it.
