On the 250th Anniversary of the Royal Proclamation of 1763, Chief Justice Murray Sinclair, senator and former chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, discusses the Proclamation and its implications for the nation-to-nation relationships between the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island (North America) and, in this context, Canada. The canoe seen is, 'Treaty Canoe' by artist Alex McKay (www.alexmckay.ca). Thanks for watching!

How much richer could the world be if only the powers that be had integrity and just a little humanity. One can but hope that the little girl who raised her hand to be acknowledged, will one day be a great leader.

I am not a lawyer, and I looked up the Royal Proclamation as soon as I started reading about the Wet'suet'en battle to protect their territory from PGE. PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE SHOULD DO A BIT OF READING ON THEIR OWN, one would think.

"In the Royal Proclamation, ownership over North America is issued to King George. However, the Royal Proclamation explicitly states that Aboriginal title has existed and continues to exist, and that all land would be considered Aboriginal land until ceded by treaty. The Proclamation forbade settlers from claiming land from the Aboriginal occupants, unless it has been first bought by the Crown and then sold to the settlers. The Royal Proclamation further sets out that only the Crown can buy land from First Nations." "ALL LAND WOULD BE CONSIDERED ABORIGINAL LAND UNTIL CEDED BY TREATY." MOST OF BRITISH COLUMBIA IS NON-TREATY LANDS... "One of the terms you will want to consider not using is “crown land” or “crown lands”. ... In large sections of British Columbia, crown land is unceded land meaning that Aboriginal Title has neither been surrendered nor acquired by the Crown. The Crown doesn't own the land outright as the term suggests. Aug 10, 2014" "CROWN LAND IS UNCEDED LAND" "ABORIGINAL TITLE HAS NEITHER BEEN SURRENDERED NOR ACQUIRED BY THE CROWN." "The court has definitively told Canada to accept the reality of aboriginal title: the government is doing everything in its power to deny it."

Ironic that George Washington owned the most land west of the Appalachian, or 'indian' land, that was supposed to be off limits for tge colonist to purchase, even though Britian was promising this land after terms of indenturement.

Thank you for this video...my question is why is this man claiming to be a Sinclair...is he related to Arthur Sinclair..if he is Aboriginal why is he still identifying himself with the European misnomered cognoman...in other words is he saying he is property of the European..come on Justice you know better than that?
