This survivor, once an innocent child, faced unimaginable harm in the place meant to be safest, her home. After her perpetrator was convicted of several sexual abuse charges and sentenced to 45 years in prison, she fought to move forward, finding strength within herself and with support from others. However, when she learned that her abuser would likely soon walk free, she would continue living in an unending prison of trauma, reminding her that while physical bars might vanish for the perpetrator, the chains of her own experience are eternal.
