I like that they're trying to be interesting as opposed to clever. As in, instead of trying to subvert expectations by telling the same stories but worse (with different characterization) the goal was to use these iconic characters and put them in different situations. After all if these characters stand the test of time then they don't need much tweaking, it's the worldbuilding that does.

I think the proof of this is having Martian Manhunter being apart of Superman's origin to explore how different situations can cause people to see things differently like MM isn't kean on humanity while Clark being raised by them understands them better. Or in Long Halloween the omitted things that didn't make sense or give more depth to characters like Harvey by showing him in part 1 having schizophrenic symptoms and they also did the twist end a lot better than the book.

Fun fact about the Superman twist: The prisoner who gives Superman his shirt is heavily implied to be Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth. The animated short that was paired with this movie is also Kamandi. Although it had a different art style, it ended with him being given the savior's (Superman) shirt so he could find him and give it to him, in order to prevent the apocalyptic future that's the setting for the short.

I think the whole "it was another universe all along" reveal is probably meant to be a way for them to not have another Flashpoint, since Barry going back in time and causing a war where Aquaman and Wonder Woman are on opposite sides was the plot of the Flashpoint movie. By revealing Barry didn't actually go back in time they don't have to deal with the potential "why didn't this cause another Flashpoint" plot hole.

It’s reminiscent of the animated movies DC used to put out; a quality that ended abruptly after the great Flashpoint. I’m glad to get back to that quality, though the Green Lantern: Beware My Power movie felt like it threw us right back into the DCAMU which was incredibly disappointing. Haven’t checked out the newest one with Supergirl and the Legionnaires, but I hope it’s a smidge more impressive than the GL movie. Edit: I have now watched the Legion of Superheroes movie and it was a solid entry in the Tomorrowverse! It’s basically an extended version of my favorite Supergirl episode from Justice League Unlimited. Still so bummed about the GL:BMP movie. I was so excited for it to be good.

I recently watched Justice Society: World War II, and I was left feeling frustrated and disappointed with the portrayal of Wonder Woman. As one of the strongest heroes in the DC Universe, I expect to see her depicted with the powers and abilities that make her a formidable force. Unfortunately, this movie fell short in many ways. Firstly, the absence of her invisible plane was glaringly obvious. Why would the creators choose to omit such an iconic part of her character? Additionally, the fact that she couldn't fly was another significant oversight. These are abilities that are intrinsic to Wonder Woman's character, and their exclusion made her seem weak and vulnerable. Furthermore, the movie failed to utilize Wonder Woman's Magic Tiara, which could have been used to devastating effect against the villains and enemy planes. Her magic lasso, another powerful tool, was also underutilized. In one notable instance, it could have been used to snap Aquaman out of his mind control, but the opportunity was missed. What's more, Wonder Woman's divine lightning manipulation abilities were nowhere to be seen. I understand that the writers may have chosen to avoid using her new origin story, which includes being the daughter of Zeus, and therefore may have opted not to include this power. However, it's worth noting that even in recent times, this ability has been largely overlooked, and it's a shame to see it neglected once again. It's disappointing that DC continues to portray Wonder Woman as a weakened version of herself. She is a strong, capable, and powerful heroine who deserves better representation. I hope future movies will do her justice and showcase her incredible abilities in all their glory.

You know the main problem with movie was the lack of threatening villains. If you really think about it just Wonder Woman and flash alone can solo the entire nazis and aquaman. I never saw them in any real danger. DC dropped the ball in not bringing back a key villain for this time line “Captain Nazi”. They already had nazi imagery so bringing a villain in that best suits the enemy makes so much sense. They could have buffed him to make the justice society truly struggle and have a real sense of danger. Instead of using a brain washed Aquaman which was weird to me. Plus they could have had a better plot for the hero’s to want to stop the nazis in mass producing super soldiers which would have been a better climax ending than what we got. Missed opportunity for not bringing back an OG villain of Shazam (captain marvel).

The Tomorrow verse really captures the small moments of these heroes and villains as people who have wants and desires. I think if the new DCU wants to succeed, they need to emulate that. I appreciate your perspective because it has opened my eyes on things I missed. Even though the Legion of Superheroes isn't my favorite but they did make even more of a fan of Kara as a character and her potential when she debuts on screen. Can't wait for your analysis on that movie.

A lot of people are like "it doesn't matter, it's just skin tone," but it _does_ matter. They gender- or race-swap an existing character because it's less backlash than creating a new one and getting hate for inserting OC into the material, or being accused of "going woke." We don't _get_ new female characters, or characters of colour, because it's not worth the effort. That's how I see it, anyway.

so far the ONLY complain i have about this new universe is how it portrayed Hal Jordan as a WILLING servant of Parallax and basically throwing away 90% of the green lantern corps... but on the movie where John appears later on i doubt it will even be mentioned so ultimately it's just their way to explain why only Jhon is there. The Legion of superheroes is not that great but it is a fun time and Supergirl is rather likable. I did love American Alien/man of tomorrow and Long Halloween so i'll be expecting great things for this movies if they keep their comic-book tone.

When I saw the trailers for JS WWII, I had thought, and a hope, this film could lead into a movie for the Blue Beetle because the original Blue Beetle became active in the 1950s, which means he became active just a few short years after the second world war. Did it happen? No, Do I still want to see it happen? Yes. Blue Beetle is a legacy character, one of DC's few official Legacy characters; I would love to see a series of interconnected Blue Beetle Films that lead into each other, each Blue Beetle having their own independent trilogy of films with the final movie of each trilogy effectively setting up for the following trilogy, with the added bonus each having an art style reminiscent of the comic book style of the era in which they are set, this would give each film a unique sort of cohesion while simultaneously providing visual cues to the audience which Blue Beetle and the era they are following for the movie. That hasn't happened yet, but it's still something I would very much like to see. Any thoughts on this idea and approach.

"Barry never takes his knowledge of history to change the course of World War 2 in this world." Fair on the surface -- but this isn't the same Earth. On his world, the JSA didn't exist in World War 2 as far as he knows (and definitely Superman wasn't around then). So, either the actual history of World War 2 is different in both worlds (if there was a JSA on his Earth, too, he and everyone else remember WW2 differently than it actually happened) or the existence of the JSA alters events in WW2 in this world. Either way, Barry's knowledge of the history of WW2, even assuming it's detailed enough to be useful for strategic purposes, isn't going to be accurate to the events of WW2 as they play out in the version he's visiting.

While I've enjoyed the Tomorrowverse, I think it's falling victim to some of the same problems as the previous movies, they don't have enough budget and they're too short. Every time I watch one of the movies, it feels like there's like 15 or 20 minutes missing. From what I've read about the animated movies, their budget hasn't really changed since they started regularly making them 15 years ago. I really hope WB or James Gunn or whoever is going to be in charge of these movies will give them a larger budget for longer runtimes and maybe a bit more time to go over the script and work out the kinks.

To be honest, Clark's plot in this movie was terrible. It was poorly paced, he "learnt his lesson" supposedly off screen, there was no shown turning point for him or anything. It just kinda sucked
