@@MrSilentProtagonist This was johns trying to introduce a bit of darkness and " drama " into barry's life though and that's annoying. Barry's origin al the way to the mid 2000s was that he was inspired to be the flash because of his love of comics and superheroes, later the JSA which was why the whole Flash Family was so close with Jay Garrick and such. after he died. The new origin kinda took something from this.
@MrSilentProtagonist Жыл бұрын
@@Kekkersboy The point of the Flashpoint comics is that Reverse Flash became a "living paradox". Thawne can not do anything that would prevent Barry from becoming the Flash or interfere with his legacy as the Flash as Thawne only became the Reverse Flash thanks to Flash's legacy. Thus Thawne makes Barry's life the worst that he can get away with while allowing him to eventually become the Flash. The most pivotal thing that he did was to kill Barry's mother and frame his father. Barry discovering that Reverse Flash is the one who killed his mother used time travel to save her. Reverse Flash stop being bounded by his timeline is free to kill Barry in his mother's womb if he wishes. The movie didn't address Thawne's weakness and presented Barry's decision to use time travel to save his mother as a whim.

He truly brought his all as Thawne/Professor Zoom. You truly felt that he had a backup plan for every occasion, every action Flash took to cause Flashpoint was truly poetic to him as Thawne is always seen as the villain, but really this was all Barry's fault and Thawne just can't help but to relish in the irony and gloated in front of Barry to point out his own hubris. @Rixec2 Жыл бұрын
Hope is really ultimately what boils down every true superhero. People may laugh and ridicule some cheesiness, but we need a little fun in our lives to see we can make things better. And when we get something darker like Flashpoint, it really shows no matter how bad things get, we can still have hope to make things better.
@CorbCorbin Жыл бұрын
Except that hope didn’t help, in the Flashpoint universe. Hope without people to enforce it, is just another dream. Hence, Barry has to go back and let his mom die, which doesn’t get his world back. It creates a new one. Many cultures have no word for hope, because they believe the world/universe is indifferent to them. They know that no matter how hard one hopes, unless someone intervenes, the weak often don’t survive. Hope and a plan, is what one needs. Batman hopes, but he also has contingencies, for when he’s letdown, or his hopes are dashed.
@Rixec2 Жыл бұрын
@@CorbCorbin Except the Flashpoint universe was born from completely different events of another universe, hence the hope there lies in fixing things. It also serves as a metaphor for how no matter how bad things become, we can always begin anew and try to make things better. Thomas Wayne fought for the hope of bringing back a universe where his son lived. Yes, Barry wasn't able to get the world back exactly as it was. But it gave a new chance where there was none before in Flashpoint. We leave behind our worst days so we can make something new out of the next. Yes, hope and a plan are needed. But a plan is unlikely to get anywhere without the hope first to make it happen. If people think the universe is indifferent, then they'll be too apathetic to make a plan. You need hope to begin building up a plan.

Constantine suffered because he thought he deserved to be but the fact that he was removed when he's the one who saved what was left is bullshit. He's the whole reason they were able to defeat Darksid at all and his's punished for trying to make the world a better place, not for himself, never for himself, but for everyone else. He was selfless! Just look at what he thought he deserved.

@Stargazer Ley Meanwhile, Barry knew the consequences in Apokolips War and at the end of Flashpoint, but he gets away with it because you can't make a Justice League without the Flash.

This was one of the first DC animated movies I ever watched.. I remember being so damn excited Ron Pearlman was finally Deathstroke again and then he died immediately... Deathstroke should always be Ron Pearlman damnit.

I've recently discovered your channel and I think it's just fantastic! I am a bit surprised however, that you haven't done a video covering one of my personal favourite JLU stories; "Legends". Also, the Batman AS episode "Beware the Gray Ghost" has some really amazing aspects not only to the story, but its actual production. Thanks for all you do. Cheers!

Rever Flash is the one who killed Barry s Mom so YEAHHH , HE IS THE VILLAIN ... ALL along

I like how you understood the lesson that Barry's mom was trying to teach him yet DC and Barry Allen in the comic books have not learned that lesson and it's a reason why DC Universe has never been able to get back right since berries little trip to Flashpoint and it's one of the reasons why even though I like the movie in the story I hate it at the same time because it changed things that nobody asked him to do and you would think that WB and DC comic books themselves we'll understand you can't change everything around just willy-nilly.

It's interesting how Geoff Johns ultimately goes against these themes as he writes Doomsday Clock and Flashpoint Beyond. Enough hope can and will change the universe, perhaps because there are beings greater than it that are listening. It's perhaps the ultimate state of authorial bias.
