This is the most spineless display of coaching I have EVER seen. Fields was decisive and absolutely balling through 3 quarters yet the coaching staff once again decides to take the ball out of his hands instead of letting him go out and win the game. This season is supposed to be about evaluating Fields as the answer at QB (I believe he is, but that’s besides the point). But instead of keeping your foot on the gas and seeing whether or not he can win you the game, this coaching staff once again plays “try not to lose” ball and gets conservative. Why? Because they are so scared of losing their jobs that they are praying to squeak out a win against a good team so they have an argument for staying another season. Pathetic.

@42:06 Every "wide open" turn down has one thing in common. The first one a rusher did a whirlwind spin right around the tackle. And while Fields had time to throw. It felt like seeing the guy roast his tackle distracted him from throwing. In this play Fields cocks back but sees 54 whirlwind passed the RG and again he has time to throw. But is distracted & turns the throw down to evade. Both cases he misjudges whether he can cleanly get the ball off. When he's scrambling he makes throws with guys directly in his face. But on deep throws he seems like he won't throw if he isn't guaranteed a throw with full follow through. Bagent made a throw when he took over for Fields where the LG position prevented follow through and he send up a wobbler. So I am wondering if it's a follow through distraction thing. Like his helmet is aimed at the throw but his eyes are pulled down to the sudden break through player. I've seen a lot of QB throw anyway and take the shot. I know Fields isn't afraid of contact. But he definitely is distracted by these flashes. Something to work on for sure.

On that pass play at 11:24 mark If #11 runs his route reading and using leverage taking his defender to the left He's wide open for a TD OR his defender a taken away from underneath coverage on #2. These are the route running concepts they are teaching. Read leverage. This is why JF is apprehensive about getting the ball out on-time 1.7 that chemistry has to be built. I am sure in film they pointed that incomplete pass amd learned from it. That was am easy 1+11=6. The concept was perfect #11 blew that one. It is so common that many players have learned to avoid it and rarely get taken out. Usually, it only works because it stalls the pursuer for a second. I feel a get-in-the guy's grill close engage block gives you the same stall even if you're beat. And you aren't taking yourself completely out of the play. Never been a fan of it. That last pass it looked like he slowed down but also fell away from the ball. Likely just misjudged it. I bet Marvin Harris Jr. doesn't miss that catch 😉
@robertwadas11 ай бұрын
That last deep throw, the man was double teamed, the defender on the right was a step ahead while the defender on the left was a step behind and I am sure the receiver thought with the positioning of the defenders the ball should be thrown a little more left and his body had a slight titlt left but the ball was about 1/2 yard to the right so he tried to adjust as he dove but the human body is controlled by the laws of physics. He did not slow down like everyone says. If he would have just ran thru it at the direction he was running, he would be 2-3 yards to the side of the ball/
@jonathantewnes122411 ай бұрын
You should go listen to Tyler Scott the Reciever after the game. He said himself he slowed down a bit and miss judged where the ball was. It happens from time to time when a guy is trying to track a deep ball. It's unfortunate.
@robertwadas11 ай бұрын
@@jonathantewnes1224 I did listen, yes, his misjudged where the ball was going, but he did not slow up. He expected the throw to where it should have went, over his left shoulder. Receivers read which angle to run based of coverage and he had more seperation with the defender on the let and that was the direction he was leaning towards. His mistake was thinking Fields was going to throw it to where it was supposed to go. What rookie is going to blame Fields. I sit behind the Bench and when Claypool slammed his helmet and yelled at fields, it was because Fields never even looked at him when he was wide open and told him he needed to go thru progressions faster. The only game Claypool had over 100 yards with Bears was with the back up QB. Chase told them he wanted out.

Flus and Getsy have got to go! Fields was not the problem last night, it was the coaching at the end that allowed the Lions to come-back, down two scores in under three minutes that sealed their fate as NFL coaches…

During the Eberflus era I believe the Bears have had a new (unique) offensive line combination due to coaching decisions and injuries in roughly 80% of the games played. I don't know anything about offensive line play, but that can't be a good thing and I'd be willing to bet it's near the top of the NFL in non consistent starting offensive fronts via personnel.
@JJ-zr6fu11 ай бұрын
Oline is on the GM he refused to pay money for good linemen he tried to get rid of Jenkins and let Daniels walk. The online would be very good if he had signed Daniels.
@davidkalmes898311 ай бұрын
@JJ-zr6fu you definitely have a point, and I'm just stating the craziness the offensive line has gone through, but talking about Poles, he's doing everything he can to improve the O-Line with some swings and some misses, but from a personnel perspective this has been the best offensive line the Bears have had in the last 8 ish years. So he's definitely improved it. But, if he lets Jenkins walk without a new contract I take back everything I just said.

Fair enough...Fields is a solid QB who has a good future with the Bears - although he is not the most dependable passer IMO. So I am not sure his feet give him the same advantage other mobile QBs have. Personally, I am an old pocket passer guy and if you watch the last four minutes of this game...you'll see a good one go to work with the Lions.

@48:14 The Detroit Lions appear to me to be in some sort of a "Double Eagle" front. I would expect this to be a very difficult formation to run uo the middle against. I think the Bears coaching lightweights made this impossible by asking a blocker to transfer the formation and try to barrel-roll a guy that he is already proven he cannot barrel-roll earlier in the game.

24:10 have to disagree. By the time 19 started to come open the pocket was already collapsing and Fields had moved over to the left. If #11 cuts hard at the 10 yard line he is open and has enough space to possibly get into the endzone.

I don't hate the deep shot to tyler scott, but I would have preferred it if he would have thrown it to dj moore in his drag route. The reason is because the game is on the line with this throw, so the question then becomes who do you trust more to make the play. In a situation like that, I am taking dj moore every time. I trust dj to catch the ball and run to go get the 1st down, which he did it earlier in the game, much more than I do a late round rookie wideout to track a deep ball and make the catch.

@46:43 I watched another video earlier where the host was reviewing the Baltimore Ravens against the Jacksonville Jaguars. To show you the incompetence of the Bears' players: the Baltimore running back looked as if he was trying to take out the knees of the defensive lineman he was executing a cut-block against. Boy-the that defensive lineman ever honor that attack and go head-over-heels. The overpaid in-line tight-end it's just doing a "Golden Retriever snuggle" instead of a legitimate NFL cut-block.

I’ve noticed that cole kmet (85) has a tell. Anytime he is asked to block the back side end in a “split flow scheme” he’s literally starring down the DE from across the field. Do you think an nfl player could pick that up and know that kmet (85) was coming to chop him. Because he never blocks the end always chops. Every time in 11 games

Fields continues to not see open routes and reads. Its not like this dude is a rookie. Time to move on.
@BiNumLi11 ай бұрын
I agree. His special mobility and running must be weighed against the loss of not setting the offence up to be successful passing. Bears have a run game. They need a pass game. Fields keeps them one dimensional. Added to that, I don't know if it is a height issue or a mental issue but Fields takes just a tick longer to make reads. This is unlikely ever to be fixed. Why do they keep him? Marketing trumps winning.

Every qb misses a couple reads every game, this is not a JF1 specific issue. I bet every qb that you would say wouldn’t miss it either had, A. A better overall team, B. A better coaching staff and play calling, C. The Qb was a better passer than fields coming into the league anyway, or D. All of the above.
