Things I appreciate from your breakdowns: - Explanation of a play's deign and what it is likely designed to attack - Nuance to quarterback details like progressions, drop back steps, pocket presence, etc... - Best guess with skill and OL pass blocking responsibilities with disclaimers that it's not necessarily an area of specific expertise or that it's unknown how a coaching staff drew it up. Yes, obv that QB should know the protections and routes to some extent but it's good to know when the speaker is aware of nuance beyond what they are well studied in. - Gives credit when due. Easy to stick to narrative and bang the same drum of criticism, but when you highlight innovative play designs/calls from Getsy or dig up running plays ONLY to give Claypool some shine for his effort run blocking, then it shows a more objective picture of what's happening. - Kyle Orton references.

@choosecarefully408 Жыл бұрын
Well, since at least last season we have Bears receivers incapable of getting open, dropping the easiest passes & an o-line that allows defenders through to Fields totally unchallenged. In JT's preseason videos on Bagent & Fields we see receivers blowing assignments immediately when Fields is in but not Bagent & is his last video we see o-linesmen again allow defenders straight through to Fields. Then both games we see terrible play-calling where receivers are sent into coverage or just go there willingly. (On one play, Claypool fell to his knees & doesn't get up). Then those same receivers who fail him repeatedly suddenly show up downfield as if by magic, open. As if they had that ability all along. Either one of two things is happening here. All of this is intentional. You don't have _THAT_ many players effing up that consistently put in unless the coaches are okay with what they are doing. So 1) they are doing this _TO_ Fields & he stares downfield in disbelief because he sees the sabotage &/or he knows that the play being run doesn't feature receivers downfield so he doesn't trust it. 2) He's in on it & is playing along for whatever reason. I'm leaning towards 1) but does it really matter? In a way it's worse because that means Fields is being set up for failure & because people will refuse to admit this to themselves he can get no support. Obviously the league or team won't investigate itself.

@NirvzHD Жыл бұрын
Hey JTO, thanks for this great video. Helps us Bears fans get a little closure. Now I can more easily see whose to blame for this mess, because on Sunday there was so much wrong I could see on the live tape alone that it was just hard to figure it all out without it being broken down so strenuously. Justin needs to be better, but he looks like a broken man out there and at this point, I'm certain this is a coaching thing. Dude has heard all year he can't throw so maybe he's just trying to say fuck it I'm going to pocket pass, but Justin doesn't strike me as someone who will just do whatever he wants. He'll try his best to run the plays as called, even if he can't. So when we aren't seeing QB runs, which the coaching staff already identified as a strength of our game last year, it seems clear to me that they're trying to square peg, round hole Justin Fields into being a pocket passer the same way the last Bears regime tried with Justin AND Mitch. I don't know where exactly the org will go from here, but as you said, the O-Line has to be better, like now. We need to eliminate the poor route running on the perimeter, two guys running the same routes multiple times a game is laughable at best, and a fireable offense for an OC at worst. We need to ditch some of these playcalls, one that sticks out that you didn't show is the Velus Jones end-around. It's the only play they call where he gets any action so defenses will know it's coming when you see Velus motioning, and on top of that the blocker, probably a TE or something gets blown up on the play, just bad play calling and execution. And finally, Justin. I'm a huge fan of the guy, it was an amen thinking we finally had a guy that could make Sundays exciting throwing the deep ball every once and awhile with success. But to set that up he has to be able to dink and dunk, because as bad as the playcalling and O-Line are at times, everyone can see thanks to these videos that the middle field sit and hanks are there all game and he's just not throwing them. I don't want to move off from Fields at this moment, because clearly they aren't gameplanning 100% to his strengths, but at the end of the day, if this org wants him to be a pocket passer, he's not their guy and it's going to end poorly. I just wish for once we could see the Bears learn from past mistakes and that doesn't look like it's going to happen for Fields. So much potential being flushed down the toilet with this team. I'm also just done with having no accountability. I've said it multiple times in other places, but Eberflus has been saying this team just needs to get 'a little better' every week and it will all come together. Well motherfucker, right now you're far and away one of the worst teams if not the worst team in the NFL for many reasons and every other team, even the best ones are trying to get a little better each week. You'll still be last fucking place if you don't make swathing, impactful changes to almost everything. And that's a recipe for disaster in the NFL to have so little going well for you. Just get back to what you know worked last year, and every now and then dial up the lay-up plays you know you want to see Justin make in your system and evaluate him based on that sample set. You can't just force 'your system' down his throat the anymore because it isn't working. At this point these coaches need to make something happen or they won't get a chance to draft their guy if Justin isn't it. Just coach to this teams strengths. Like JTO said, QB Power and more runs with winning numbers to dynamic playmakers like Herbert, RoJo, and Fields and RPO out to the corner route to a TE like we saw Justin do once this game. Kmet makes that grab and people are salivating over Fields again. That drop from Kmet is the type of play you 'need to clean up a little bit'. That type of system has been their only recipe for success with Justin so lean into it at this point to keep your job and move onto another QB if that's what the staff wants come April.

1:07:48 To be fair to #10, on the broadcast slo-mo closeup, you can see that his hand is back on the ball to make the DB bobble it just long enough that he is out of bounds when he gets control. I don't know if #10 did it on purpose or accident tho.

Thanks for the in depth analysis. As a Bears fan, I know how painful this is to watch, or analyze. Pretty clear that the system is not working for JF and he is showing that he has significant limitations seeing the field. Add in a bad O-line with Jenkins on IR and Davis perpetually not available and it is, as you said, a dumpster fire. Would love for QB1 to be successful. He's such a hard working professional dude, but he's regressed and I think the OC is a BIG part of that. Hard to see this turning around soon. Stick with it JT.

I think he sees the field more than he is given credit for. He lost his confidence due to the debacle the Bears' organization is. He was an aggressive thrower. Today, he never cuts its loose or throws over the middle. That spills into everything else. They ruined him for the time being. I hope he goes to a team that can put him back together.

Your Bears analysis last week was my first time on this channel. After this follow-up, I’m subbed. The Bears had the perfect tank last year outside of the Claypool trade. Fields showed glimpses, Herbert was good. They had all those draft picks, all those assets and somehow got worse. Massive catastrophe.

He won’t start anywhere else if he keeps this up. He essentially has a similar problem as Lance and Lance isn’t as bad in the pocket as Fields is right now. Look, we saw what happened last week AND ITS STILL HAPPENING this week and these are not “new” problems, these were around the previous season as well and we cant expect improvement against the Chiefs next week AT Arrowhead. Man, I want Fields to be better because hes got talent but the man looks like hes got the yips sometimes with how indecisive he is and how long he holds the ball. Its depressing.

@budoboy1977 Жыл бұрын
As a Bears fan, I absolutely love these videos. It shows how much is broken on the offense. Plays like the 1st and 10 at the "50" really showcase how coaching can dramatically set back a player's progress. Darnell Wright(the RT) can't work effectively because Kmet does the little jump set behind and then up through the B gap. Darnell Wright is now in an even more impossible blocking situation because of the play design. It's like the coaches are telling him "Your strength is to move quickly to stay in front of the edge rusher? Yeah, we're not going to let you do that. You'll have to figure out some other way to block the guy."
@ericthurman1050 Жыл бұрын
exactly. they are neutralizing the players' best strengths. 3 maulers ( Jenkins, jones and wright) and with the two in they can't run.
@trey2325 Жыл бұрын
I'm confused as to why the ball can't be on the "50"
@Good_Enough4 Жыл бұрын
@@trey2325 because to be on the 1 is to be between the goal line and the 1 yard marker. To be on your own 49 is to be between the 49 yard marker and the 50 yard line. To be on your opponents 49 is to be between the 50 yard line and the 49 yard marker. To be on the goal line is to be between the 1 yard marker and the goal line. To be on the 50, you would need to be between the 50 yard lines and there is only 1.
@SourceTV41 Жыл бұрын
@@Good_Enough4 what if the ball is placed exactly on any yard line so that half the ball is between yard line and yard line -1 and the other half is between yard line and yard line +1? It's really just semantics correct you can't be on the 0 since any part of the ball touching or over the goal line is a touchdown or safety but I would say the 50 is a valid location be.

Do you guys all forget the _last_ film when looking at this one? Last one we saw two plays where o-linesmen *decided to* allow defenders to get at Fields unblocked. This one, they are arguing with each other (8.16). All *last season* Sam Mustipher repeatedly missed his blocks. In JT's preseason vids we see the players repeatedly completely miss assignments when Fields is in. But not Walker or Bagent. Then on plays that don't call for a receiver to be downfield one shows up, open, as if by magic. The guys missing their assignments suddenly become open later in games. Would _you_ trust them? Fields is being set up. You're *watching* it. Now _see_ it!
