Justin Foley | Sober

Hi guys! Who would have thought I would have vid 13 Reasons Why again? I loved the first season so much (and I also enjoyed season 2, even if I still think it was unnecessary) but I have a love/hate relationship with the last two seasons.
The only character that made me keep watching is Justin Foley (him and Tyler Down) and his relationship with Clay.
This precious bean went through so much and he definitely didn’t deserve that ending. I’m still not over his character death, and I don’t think I’ll be over it very soon.
This song fits him so well, it perfectly describes his journey and yes, I’m kinda proud of the final result.

This song actually is about a true story. It was released in June 2018 in july Demi Lovato overdosed on fentanyl. The original artist is Demi. Thank god demi made it and now they have another songs like dancing with the devil and anyone that for me like sober Anyone was written and recorded four days before the overdose and dancing with the devil is about the overdose also there is ICU (Madison’s lullaby) it’s about Demi’s sister. When demi overdosed they couldn’t recognize their sister when they woke up 😢 demi was six years sober and was honest with their fans about their recovery from drugs and alcohol and their eating disorder so they released sober with caption on Twitter saying my truth….

This is SUCH a wonderful tribute to his addiction storyline AND wonderful vid to capture the heartwrenching beauty of this song. I fell in love with this song a couple years ago and utilized it in a podfic of mine, it honestly made me cry a bit after having gone through my brother's addiction stuff. Revisiting it here in this light is so so powerful and you capture so much, some of which is a bit undervidded. I really loved everything about this vid.

@@MiriSparkles my brother actually had a pretty happy resolution so far to his addiction stuff. He was 26 years old and hit rock bottom in a real scary way that worked and rehab and stuff seems to have stuck with him for nearly 2 years now. He also got a stark reminder of the risks when our estranged, abusive mom did die the past January and we are never going to know if the death might've been influenced by an overdose. Overall things are better on that front in my life.

@@MiriSparkles My mom might've been more of a purposeful suicide or....well it's a long story lol. My mom was an alcoholic till the end but left suicide notes and we found a lot of empty bottles of hyrocodone in her trash, but she was preparing to die for over a month and was cleaning up the house in perpetration so she might've just been throwing away old bottles. Autopsy says she died of natural causes, a heart attack. But I suspect it was an overdose heart attack.but we'll never know. but yeah there are a lot of reasons a show like 13 Reasons Why resonates with someone like me. If you count my mom as a suicide then I've lost 3 people to suicide between the ages of 23 and 29 in my life (meaning i was that age - the people who died all were in their 50s) and one of those 3 people also committed murder. It was a murder-suicide when i was 27 and i made a fanvideo to help me process my feelings that included some Clay/Hannah. I relate to Justin's best friend turning out to be a rapist, to his surviving child abuse, and I relate to Clay's grief, and i relate to trauma in general which all the kids have.
