Something most people don't know about Gaethje: up until his Ferguson fight he was practically fighting blind. The guy had laser eye surgery and finally could see the punches coming, he was literally so hard for sight in fights that he and I quote "had to feel his opponent in order to know where they were" - this should give you a little better idea of why he fought the way he did, and why his movement and defense seems to be so much better.

One cannot look at a loss on paper without context. I got to train with him in morenci AZ in November and wrestling him did not feel human I called it then and there that he would be champion. Man, over the last few weeks - i've gotten to "know" Justin by watching a bunch of videos of his fights and how he is as a human being. I think he might be my favourite fighter. He reminds me of myself, always used to think i knew everything until i had a revelation and started listening to my mentors - all of a sudden i started to succeed because i was humbled and started taking advice from others. Huge appreciation for my parents aswell. I love that about him. Justin's got a new fan for life.
