Things were different back then. After their season, they switched the rules so the runner-up's CD could come out BEFORE the winner's (which is why Clay's was released first). But for the first season, it was required that everyone wait until the winner's album is released. Kelly put out "Thankful" in April, and Justin's came out in June.

Justin IMHO was the best and most unique one the show ever had. He suffered from being part of the 1st season when the big voice "Diva" thing was still big then. Kelly was great but very unoriginal. Plus, in season 1, they didn't push runner ups or even lower finalists, as they did in following seasons.

I think he peaked during that last acapella of get here, then all of the other performances, although good, couldnt touch that one. Best ending ever, had everyone captivated especially during this time (2:34) thru (2:46). gave paula chills, even brought out the ___ in simon. craziness!

Well, no question he's talented enough. However, the post-season was handled very differently for Season One non-winners. Everything was new, unknown, people made mistakes. Water under the bridge. He's happy, making good music, singing better than ever, doing his thing.

Justin is the reason was his career didn't take off, he should have road on the wave of his success after his loss to Kelly. After his lost to her he did that movie and that american idol CD and took a year off. After his lost he should have came out with his CD. And i think he would have been great if he would have switched to R and B.
