Song's history described by composer Gwyneth Walker: 'Motherless Child' is derived, in part, from the African-American spiritual 'Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child'. The original song dates back to the era of slavery when it was common practice to sell children of slaves away from their parents.

I watch this video on a regular basis, it stirs my soul. Let me make it known now that I voted for Justin every night, multiple times and he was robbed! I love Kelly but I did not vote for her EVER. But God makes no mistakes...there's something way more awesome waiting on Justin. He made a jazz album, got married...Kelly's never happy anymore these days anyway.

Bigbadben7, u r right about lack of talented artist r superstars. From what I was told it is 90% business and 10% talent. C RCA dropped Justin but kept him on CONTRACT so he can't do or go anywhere else until his contract was up. That is y I tell people 2 please read the contract b4 signing.

I agree. Now that I think back 2 the 1st season of American Idol Justin should have won. I have heard him sing after the fact and damn that guy is good. So this tells me the American Idol is set up. ALWAYS BEEN. This yr I am not watching it due 2 the fact of they let so many real talent go. Me & u both know that that Doolittle chick should have won, hands down. NOT JORDEN. I am going to offer up an unpopular opinion-it drags on to the point where the point is lost. Other than jazz-music must have structure-nothing new was offered up emotionally after the first verse. He is soo darn talented, and for my money perhaps the most talented singer of the pop generation. The spiritual in concert form must have structure-speed it up with the choir to invoke the overcoming over such a terrible loss!
