Fun exercise: look at chargers 53 man roster at the begginning of the season. Now look who has played DB since then. It has been a revolving door. Since LB Denzel Perryman got hurt, the defense got a lot worse. That's another position with a lot of bodies coming throught the season. But still, the defense has been great to above average the whole season. That's good teaching from DC Minter. That's elite GM'ing. That's new.

One thing that gets lost in these discussions is why does it even matter to be an elite QB. Eli Manning beat Tom Brady twice in the SB and no one would think he's better than Brady. Why do you want an elite QB? Chargers are in a position to want a first SB. They're not the Chiefs, if you want a three-peat SB, sure an elite QB is important. But if you look at the worst QBs to ever win a SB, Herbert is better than all of them. That's all the Chargers need, someone good enough to win a SB and there's no question at all Herbert can do it. It doesn't matter if he can do it alone, because a serious organization that wants to win the SB shouldn't be putting it all in his back. Chargers didn't even have coaches and GM who could win a SB, why are we expecting Herbert to be the one who did that? Now, can OC Greg Roman's offense win a SB? Ravens fans will say no way.

I am a Charger fan. I know i am a homer. Herbert is better than Burrow. In 5 years we will be talking about him as the best in the league. Having a stsble mhead coach and offensive philosophy is going to ignite his career. He threw a ball so tight that after it got tipped it still looked better than many nfl qbs throw normally. He has had the luck of Philip Rivers in regard to coaching and the front office. Just remember, he set all those rookie records with the 32nd ranked o-line that year. The Bolts arent going far in the playoffs this year because of the lack of quality skill guys on offense and the mountain of injuries on defense. My guess is they pick up a quality RB and TE in the draft, roll with one more year of QJ and Palmer. The upgrade at RB and TE will lead to a more consistently potent offense.
