From the Gulf Coast area, Justin Jeansonne is as Alabama as it gets. We first heard a demo of his and could tell he had a fun and unique presence in his songs, but it wasn’t until we made this field recording with him that we understood how captivating his voice truly is.
Unlike the simple southern twang affected by some, Justin’s tone sort of cuts into a two-step dance and twirls a true and distinct groove. It’s perfect in this way, being this song is called “Alabama Groove.” So much of what makes a good song is here, melded into a traditional jam, very rootsy, something befitting the big-hearted, salt-rimmed region that Justin calls home.
On top of it all, he’s a Marine who loves and raises horses, a rare and genuine human. Making this video together, we made a friend in the shade, on a sweltering, summer day.
