My first season of bass fishing and have always been hesitant using a chatter bait after not catching anything with it. Granted I was very new and was using green pumpkin in very dirty water. Not much a chance for the bass to see and grab. Really looking forward to use this especially after all my graphing/studying of local lakes.

Funny to hear 7:1 ratio reels referred to as “slow”. Wasn’t it just yesterday they were the top end of high speed?

I fell for this as a beginner when researching gear ratios. Bought an 8.1 + and realized lures I used + time of season required slower presentations. You can always crank a 6 or 7 gear ratio. It’s very difficult to slow down an 8+ gear ratio reel consistently.

Up here in Ohio I like 5:4 fluorocarbon for cranks and 7:1 braid for top water. But I'm no expert
