I think that it’s quite possible to have sympathy for those who have lost loved ones from COVID-19, while at the same time recognizing that it still is Justin Turner’s right to go out and celebrate with his teammates after accomplishing something that he has worked his entire life for. Positive test (gasp!), or not. Make no mistake about it, the reaction to this says more about the media than it does about Justin Turner. If it was really an issue for the Dodgers, they would have stopped him from doing that. So, I think everyone needs to grow up a little bit. Look, it’s tragic that over 220,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus. And no one is saying that it isn’t, but to ascribe motive to Justin Turner, or anybody who thinks that he did nothing wrong, by saying that they don’t care about people who have died is wrong in itself. It seems like most people would rather just lock themselves up forever due to fear of the virus. And this media reaction to this story is symbolic of that culture of fear.
