I agree with the downhill part. I had a tough time getting the barre chords chords correct, they always kind sounded fuzzy. I had even given up playing for a month. Then again I started , in a month I playing them effortlessly. Patience is always rewarded. Anyways great lesson as always. Thanks.

I was listening to Instinct Blues by the White Stripes precisely when Justin hit the "commonly used notes" around one minute and the riff for instinct blues is precisely what he plays. Serendipity or fate?! Great lesson as always Justin.

Wishu OnlyKnew more the fact that its just 12 notes in different pitches and combinations, along each players style, its amazing how simple melodies change so much by doing something as basic as focusing on a different not in a single shape

@montify it's from one of the earlier vids, but basically you bar the top three strings, strum them, hammer on on the next fret on the 3rd string, bar the next fret and strum, then let go back to the bar + fret and strum again. Just look for the other video or go to the forum or something.

From someone else's video there was a reference to using passing notes along the lines of what you have with a twist. Doing, say, an A7 arpeggio, you include (as you do) the minor 3rd (C) en route (sliding, hammering, or otherwise) to the major 3rd (C#) and you do the same from the 6th (F#) to the Dom7 (G). The twist is that when you descend, you play those passing notes in the same way. So it'd be A-C-C#-E-F#-G-A-F#-G-E-C-C#-A. Then the same with D7 and E7. It works well as a bass line too.

@hilo2hell First of all you need to like/love the blues FIRST!...second then you need to FEEL it!...and then you can start thinking of learning it on the guitar!!!!...remember it's NOT how much scales/notes you know, it's what you do with what you already know!!!! Good luck...

at 09:05, yep A7 chord (barr across all strings 5th fret with index, ring on 7th fret A string, middle on 6th fret G string. strum once, then D chord (first finger5th fret A string, barr across 7th frets of DGB strings with ring finger, strum once, then another A7 chord but ... barr across all strings at 5th fret with index, ring finger goes on 7th fret A string... strumm and immediately hammer your middle finger onto 6th fret G string just after strumming to complete the chord.

@montify I think what he did was play an A7, then a D, then another A7, but he hammered on the C# (6th fret G string) just after playing the A7. I think. Not sure of the exact timing but that's generally what he's doing.

@baadshepherd Wow, wow, wow. Calm down. I appreciate Justin's videos as much as anybody and I wasn't complaining directly to anyone I simply at that moment was stuck for time and was in two minds about watching the lesson then and there anyway, so the ad just annoyed me, Im not growling about someone making a buck, but being forced to watch an advertisment is one of my pet peeves whether it supports what your watching or not, you shouldn't have to, but that's a whole other story, happy new year!

Thanks Justin, this video answered a lot of questions.Though i have been following all your classes. Im guessing ive taken 90% of all your classes and though it takes 45 to 70 minutes here to watch each you tube class ( thanks to buffering ) Im glad i watched every one of it. Do you think its possible for you to go in depth on your Jazz and Folk classes to as you have in your Blues. That would be awesome ( In lack of a Better word.) Thank you once again for what you do.

isn't that the key of C, VI mode? If it was key of A wouldn't A be the root note with the major 7th, not the dominant 7th, being the 7th chord?

in other words, if we are in the key of A, A dom7 would be out of key, but if we were in the key of C, using the relative minor, Amin, Amin dom 7 would be correct...let me know if I'm off base here
