Daytripper is pretty much riff based song. I've been playing rhythm for years. Self taught and I always thought riffs were an extension of rhythm guitar. I do quite a bit of riffing and have been hanging around lower voiced strings these days instead of using the higher voiced strings. Mine are not always scale based. I sometimes do chord based riffs. Meaning you can hear the chord progression without actually playing the chord progression, if that makes sense.

Justin, since you're talking about riffs I have a question. I was thinking about playing power chords & using the low register triad shapes to add something. The question is could you use a major 3rd chord tone to hammer on to while playing a power chord, because a power chord is only a root & 5th tone. The Scorpions played a hammer on after a power chord in the song "still loving you". I like things like that, & classic AC-DC sounds.

@tonyhudson8235
@tonyhudson8235 3 жыл бұрын
Similar to the Trooper by Iron Maiden, do you mean? I'd have to check but I think the hammer on is the major 3rd in that. Just checked. And no. I was wrong. Sorry for the fake news.
@justinguitar
@justinguitar 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The major 3rd will fit in perfectly. You need to think about how you finger the power chord and where you can hammer on to. If you can make power chords + embellishments then you're onto riff writing! | close 2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide [ www.justinguitar.com/ ] & Moderator on JustinGuitar Forum [ justinguitarcommunity.com/index.php ]

Can u write a slow emotional guitar solo wanna learn one
@justinguitar
@justinguitar 3 жыл бұрын
A good solo is a little story. Think of the story you want to tell in your story and think of how long it should be. Divide it in chuncks and write different parts to tie together later. A classic 'story arc" for a solo would have clear beginning of a solo that grabs your attention, then builds up to a climax and has an calmer finish. | LievenDV | JustinGuitar Official Guide

I wondered when the fun would begin. Just as I clicked start on this video my dog unusually, sat on my foot. Obviously, she didn't want me eyeing up your dog. With all these chord combinations I'm practicing, I can't help remembering my days as a salesmen and what made me a cut above the rest. I just kept on prospecting for new business, regardless. The sales then looked after themselves. Constant repitition. When you keep on keeping on, with the often least fun and attractive stuff, you get there when others don't. The same mundane madness and commitment turned me into an early .com m. by 2005.
