I love Wet Leg. The two women had been making music for years separately without any success. They thought their time had passed. They both had problems with performance anxiety and decided to team up and just play for fun. People often get the wrong impression about them because they want their band to be fun and have a laugh. Musically they know their stuff they're not one hit wonders as some believed last year. There's a lot of deadpan humour in their videos they really are talented. Have a watch and listen to Wet Leg's "Angelica" that's my favourite song of theirs.

They don't take themselves too seriously, and at seem at time to be really surprised at all the attention they've gotten. (The story goes that they just wanted to get into festivals more easily - and get some warm beer when they did - and in the early interviews that rings true to me. I think it's their attitude that gets them as much support as the catchy simple songs. They're not pretending to be the next King Crimson, but they're not going to refuse to accept unexpected market success if that's how things work out.) Their next hit was *Wet Dream* kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpvTmH2gmdBoaMU Other songs of theirs I've heard don't have innuendo - or not much. (I avoid Chaise Longue these days, because it gets too stuck in your head. )

That story is fake. There’s plenty of evidence online of them being musicians for years on the gig circuit. I think they just gave up trying to make real music and dished out this slop knowing that todays idiotic youth would lap it up happily. Everything about this song and band is pure nonsense

@@viewingonly9795 I wouldn't be surprised if that were so. As for the "slop", at least they're not handing out gangsta turds for people to swallow, or something self-importantly "serious". Could be worse, and really it's not bad. The worst one could say about it is it's not bad. As I said, as far as my own important self goes, I avoid it because I don't want a little repeated hook to get stuck in my head all day. There isn't enough space in there for that kind of thing. And if the image they're cultivating (if it's partly or entirely simulated) is striking a chord with the youth, good for the youth. You can do a lot worse than be humble or awkward, too. (Like strut, pose, wait for applause, for instance.) Maybe it's a kind of reaction against a lot of the politicians of recent times, even?

My husband and I keep trying to figure out why this song is so bloody good when it should be crap. The lyrics are very simple and kinda silly (certainly not deep), the melody is also pretty basic, delivery laconic - none of it should add up. It's so cool when a band's sound and image come together into a delightfully cohesive package, while at the same time maintaining a vibe that this is a group of effortlessly cool and talented people who just drifted together unawares and by happenstance to unite in an artistic vision that goes beyond individual members. In such an overly manufactured world, it's really, actually, hard to believe that such serendipity even exists! And, for all I know, this band could be the project of a hit-factory in Sweden. But I've always been one to believe that it does exist and that even the most calculated movements are only imitations of when the universe decides the time is right to bring certain things together into once in a lifetime convergences. Even if it is a band called WET LEG.

The Sparks Sisters! Ron and Russell should be proud of their latest progeny (I don't just mean this track). Chais Longue joins Lawnmower and Hippopotamous as recent weird song subjects. About time there is a return to whacky lyrics in the pop world. The main melody line is reminiscent of Lennon's 'John Sinclair' off Some Time in New York City.

Easy. A: Because it's organic music which is sorta coming back into vogue as people tire of songwriting/manufacturing by committee. B: It appeals to a music buying public that has had it's attention span blunted by 30 years of rap and modern pop to the point where anything more complex isn't palatable. Anything that doesn't endlessly repeat every 4 to 8 bars doesn't have a chance for the most part. Hence the minimalist, ultra repetitive lyrics and motifs.... This song fits those strictures

Good evening (or whatever time there is) sir Justin! I would love to ask you about how you see people's approach to The Darkness. As a hard rock/glam band you achieved a one of a kind success about 20 years after your main genre's popularity. I guess that there are two kinds of responses to that thing - there are people who consider you the exiles who "copied someone else" and people who consider you the rock heroes who singlehandedly put the more classical approach to such music in the spotlight when it seemed already dead. Personally, I see you guys as a group of talented people who took a look at the pre-prepapared direction and made it your own with signature songwriting skills, production and performance. As a highly creative music lover (non-generic, innovative, alternative and weird bands such as Mr Bungle or NIN) I can't stop listening to you and feeling the excitement about your songs, because there is a lot more to appreciate than some people seem to do. Greetings!

It's a catchy tune! Love the bass part, out there on its own and the sliding up gives it a very cool sound. Simple arrangement, catchy melody. Full of little hooks on every instrument. Great video to boot. The perfect package.

Also worth noting, 'on-the chaise longue' is 3 beats repeated over 4 beat bars, so a different word becomes the first beat of the bar each time.
