Wild life belongs in the country. I'm against fox hunting but also against foxes in town gardens and streets. They are dirty, create messes everywhere and dangerous when small children play in their garden which should be a safe place to be in. Everything in their place is fine with me.

@@cloud4565 That's a vast overstatement. It's an individual thing - some people don't like having them around, others do. It's like that everywhere. Officially they are NOT considered pests. Once they were, and councils used to cull them, but that changed many years ago. You cannot legally kill them for two reasons: firstly, in the UK very few people can legally own a gun, and even they are not allowed to use one in a built up area, so you can't shoot them; secondly, you can't poison them because to put down poison is a criminal offence punishable by a prison sentence. All that you can do is ask for the council to remove them, which, if they do, they will do by trapping and lethal injection. Even then there has to be a valid reason for it - for example if they have somehow got beneath the floor of you home and set up a den there. The fact that they might damage your hedges or dig the odd hole in your lawn is not considered a good enough reason. These lethal injections can only be administered by a vet and the majority of them will refuse to put down a healthy animal. Something else you can't do is block up a fox's earth if their are young inside; that is an animal cruelty offence.
