I really enjoyed this. Thanks for posting a complete episode of this rare show!

This is funny, I lived in Toms River at this time and I didn't even know this show a) existed, or b) was taped in AC. It's funny hearing these players came from the towns nearby!

Actually I heard that it was "The Reel to Reel Movie Game" not "Yahtzee" that the contestants got stiffed on, due to the production company going bankrupt (the former was also hosted by Peter Marshall, BTW).

This came from my video collection. You're welcome America! I'm just now noticing 25 years later that the Fisherman are high-fiving each other when the sales girl rolls the Yahtzee for no obvious reason.

I wouldn't know. I grew up in Boston and didn't see this show, but based on its pace, I guess I didn't miss much.

If this show came back, it would have to be less confusing than what's been presented here. My take would be closer to the board game version. To roll the dice, players must answer a trivia question for 10 points. Players get 3 rolls. They can put their result into any and all columns that apply to their result. First 2 players to fill their cards advance. Round 2, nothing changes from Round 1. The final round plays like Final Jeopardy. The bonus game's object is to roll a Yahtzee in 2 minutes.

Actually, the stiffing happened on both "Yahtzee" and "The Reel to Reel Picture Show". Some deep Google News searching will find articles on both shows; I only found just the Oct. 1988 one for Yahtzee, but there's a lot more articles on Reel to Reel. (Those articles mention that Reel's entire staff, Peter Marshall included, ended up getting stiffed...that must have been a fun experience.)

@studlyj: I heard it was because his production company went bankrupt, which caused him to shut down the company.

I can confirm that it's true for Yahtzee. A Google News search turns up an October 1988 article saying that the winners were indeed stiffed.

Speaking of the late Mr. Goodson, we probably all wish that his son would have taken that advice with "Family Feud" in 1992 with adding the Bullseye Round to the show. Now, it seems that the current producers are bringing back memories that are best left buried by bringing back that round this fall on the Feud.

nice. TV shows based on board games are the shit.

Poor Jerry Stiller. This show was too little for him. And to think it would be 9 years after this that he finally gets to move in with Kevin James and Leah Remini. He had to wait such a long time that wil Arthur him!

Look for the "Spin-Off" clips. That was a better game based on Yahtzee, even if it didn't have the name.

It's a combination on "Match Game", "Hollywood Squares", and "High Rollers". I think Gene Rayburn should've hosted this show.
