When I cast net mullet I usually have a rock or something to throw to scare them (usually when water clarity is bad) helps locate and makes them school together to swim away. They react, move together and then realize there’s no threat, then get caught by my cast net

Justin, when is too windy to fish with the Gheenoe? Is it 7 mph, !0 mph, 15 mph, or 20 mph? Please advise. Thank you.
@fantomphoenix61708 ай бұрын
Depends on how the waves are, motor and anchoring setup. 25mph on open flats is about the limit, if you have a power pole micro setup then you’re still good though, but the wind isn’t enjoyable.

My opinion. You can’t grow big fish from average fish genetics. Already been said that I release my PB’s. A blown up pic of you and the fish and maybe a replica mount if you like a fish on the wall. As for the bait, you teach me all the time. Just watching you fight a fish shows me something about how it needs to be done. With any luck I’ll be able to remember it when it counts. 20+ years ago I watched HankParker coach a guy that had hooked a very big bass. Remember him constantly telling him to be very calm, don’t move fast, think of what you’re doing. He landed that fish that was released, a true giant. Thank you for the videos and all that you share. Now if I could just get your address and the time you’re fixing some of that tripletail I’d be a happy boy .LOL. Keep ‘em coming……Tim
@2587scott8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your opinion, lol.
@artificialslinger97308 ай бұрын
I absolutely agree. Better to release then and get a replica mount done. Kinda sad people rather kill a big fish vs releasing it to allow it to breed more And ignore Scott. Clearly a troll starving for attention
@jacoblogsdon28508 ай бұрын
Natural selection plays a role on both sides of the coin fellas... "survival of the fittest" and "only the strong survive" doesn't necessarily mean that ONLY the large and strong survive. Intelligence is another major factor in survival amongst animals who are prey. If we hand pick the large fish and large animals to live, with no other factors considered, you are implementing artificial selection and in a way, modifying the natural world. Nature has developed a very effective system. It's tough to argue with millions of years because we want to catch bigger fish.

Congrats brotha! I caught my PB tripletail 4 yrs ago in Apalachicola. It was 27 inches exactly. It was HUGE! I ended up cleaning and filleting it and it easily fed 6 people. I also thought about mounting it but nowadays all ya gotta do is send the measurements to a taxidermy place and they will make one that looks exactly like the fish ya caught. I have not done it yet but plan on doing it some time this year. So it was both delicious and I am also gonna have a nice mount too. Again congrats bro and nothing like catching a giant Tripletail!💪💪😎. PS I caught mine on a big frozen shrimp…..instantly!

I doubt you ever catch a larger triple tail, but since the dont use the fish to do the replica anymore you have time to decide. I am not sure I have seen many triple tail mounts so it would be unique. Also it would fit on your wall better than a mount of a larger pb like tarpon, snook or redfish. I would say sit on the photo and measurements and make that decision when money is less important. If a sponsor will pay for it then do it!!

Kinda disappointed on you with that triple tail . A fish that big deserved to be released. You could have easily measured the length ( which you did ) the girth and got a photo of it ( which you done ) and had a perfectly good replica mount done , then kept the smller triple tail. That would have been a win win all around. Now that bigger fish is gone and one less breeder fish gone. So congrats on that and not helping with conservation. Also for mounts New Wave Taxidermy does an amazing job for replica nounts Also to answer your question from your video " will I ever catch a bigger triple tail in this boat in this inshore setting ". No , no you will not because you and other guys keep the breeder fish.

@artificialslinger97308 ай бұрын
Don't have to keep fish to mount them anymore. Take measurements of the length and girth , take a photo and send to a Taxidermy and they can make you a replica mount. This way those fish can be released to continue to breed
