The tag redfish thing is part of a tournament. If you catch it and you're in the tournament, you can win a boat it's called the cca star tournament I think

Nice catch on the tagged red! I used to tag snook for the state and I caught one in the Turkey Creek area (a juvenile snook) and it traveled down to the keys! Also, the biologist I tagged for caught one of my tagged snook down in West Palm Beach N had tagged it at Long Point in the mosquito impound area. I had also re-caught some of the snook I tagged, but that was not much of a surprise. I actually mapped ut one honey hole and caught several snook in exactly the same spot. Lots of fun! Caught a tagged Spec Trout in South Carolina once but didn't find the tag until I fileted it. The tag had been incapsulated under the skin. Called the ph# on the tag, which was the SC DNR. They asked about size, location caught, etc. and asked for the I.D. # on the tag. They sent me a document, which detailed the date, location, size, etc. when the fish was tagged by the SC Dept. Of Natural Resources.
