Ride the Sky was actually before immigrant song. It was the first 45 single of the album and one of the first recorded. They got the melody idea from a 1960s spy movie (Peter of LF told me). Of course people are quick to say Led Zep was first, but it's just not the case.

Quote from John Lawton (Goldmine) "The first time I heard “Ride the Sky” was the basic track, not with the horns intro, but I felt that the rhythm at the time was really, really heavy. I thought this is something that I’d like to do. We put the vocals down and it turned out to be a bit of a classic, and compared to “Immigrant Song,” we came first. I’ll have to tell you that. We had the riff before “Immigrant Song.” It’s been a bone of contention throughout the years, but it has been proven eventually that we got that before Zeppelin."

L'sF is more in the realm of Scorpions, UFO, Uriah Heep, Uli Roth, etc. .

Thanks for recognizing them. It is really raw. Germany can be a mess. Listen to scorpions. It's a blitzkrieg bop. Kinda like immigrant song or woman by wolf mother?

The songs for both albums were mainly written in 1969. However, inspired by a trip to Iceland in June 1970, Immigrant was written. Of the many songs Led Zeppelin was involved in law suits, both ways for plagiarism, "Ride the Sky", nor Lucifer's Friend was not.

These guys were prog like Deep Purple was prog. The entire band was German except for English singer John Lawton. And yes, they stole the lick from "The Immigrant Song." A Beat Club video exists of this if you search on YT, and you can see the organ player doing the french horn part.

The live version from Beat Club is far superior to the album version.

Others have mentioned Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, I think I hear something that reminds me of Birth Control. Uriah Heep anyway.

Nice song but it sounds like Deep Zeppelin or Led Purple to me.
