Don’t Stop Me Now has one horrible flaw …… IT ENDS ! I love this song so much I almost want to cry. Trying not to be mad at Freddie for leaving us way too soon. Can you imagine what else he would have written ?? It’s not good enough for me that there are music courses that study some of his songs. I want more ✌🏼😂 Thanks Justin for your great reaction I wouldn’t expect anything less from you 😊

Great song... takes me back to waking up for school and this being on the radio circa 1979.... much bigger now than it was back then (barely top 10 in UK, and only 86 in USA!) ... almost 1 billion views on youtube can't be wrong..

Brian said he felt very uneasy about this song because at the time it was recoerded Freddie was living a very fast life and he was afraid for his friend. AIDS was still unknown, so his concern was just that "something might happen". Freddie really knew how to describe the joy of living life to the fullest.

Brian can be a so and so sometimes Years Before he claimed concern he had been honest He said it upset him because Freddie wouldn't let him put more guitar on it! Apparently Brian has done a version with extra! He also said he felt the song was sepratism!? He did say men and women!

It was also voted the happiest song too. It's a great great song, but I have to tell you Freddie also played the guitar, he wrote battle ogre and crazy little thing called love on a guitar. Great reaction

Being a die hard fan of Queen since 40 years, still: 'Don't stop me now' and 'In the lap of the gods revisited' are my favorite songs of all time (not only relating to Queen-songs, but relating to the whole world of Rock and Pop). Like you said it: 'Don't stop me now' is just the perfect song: It has an intro, an outro; great harmonies and melody-line; simple, but effective guitar-solo; driving rhythm - everything is there, that you could imagine of a perfect song.

Hardest thing during this song is to choose between singing along ( poorly but loudly) or listening in awe of Freddy so the only thing to do is sing along the first time and then press repeat en enjoy the magic ✨

As I understand it from a couple of interviews I've heard with Brian, he didn't initially like the song because he felt it reflected a "separation" between Freddie and the rest of the band members - Freddie had entered his hedonistic clubbing lifestyle and all that went with it and, as Brian said, they were genuinely worried about him. In one of the interviews, Brian said he now "kinda" likes the song.

For the author of more than 120 books on rock music , Martin Popoff, the most creative rock bands ever for their 6 first studio albums are Judas Priest and...Queen !
@anthonypirera759810 ай бұрын
Yes I heard him say that. I like Judas Priest too but to say that over Sabbath and Zeppelin the first few albums are pretty good too.

I bought this album the day it was released and this song was like a ray of sunlight in what I felt was a "meh" side 2 of the album. The interesting thing about this song is that it was not a massive hit anywhere and did not receive the kind of airplay anywhere at the time (it only hit #86 on Billboard charts in the US, though was top 10 in the UK) that would indicate it would carry such a legacy all these years later. It was kind of a hidden gem that became well-known and much-loved many, many years later. There is no other song in their catologue with this characteristic, though Freddie's solo song Living on My Own became a big posthumous hit 10 years after it was included on his Mr. Bad Guy album.

Probably the best single, (or even song), on the album. For Queen fans, at the time, it was the mutt's nuts. It had everything that you could possibly want from a Queen song. Catchy as hell, with Mercury on top form vocally. A brilliant, albeit short, solo from May helped top it off. The only issue with the song is it being relatively short. So much so, that it usually gets repeated as a result. The ultimate, 'feel good', song, for sure. The fade out with just Freddie vocalising really finishes it off well.

YESSSSS…..wonderful! EDIT … and the official video I absolutely love the remarkably different dress of the four, Roger’s green suit, Deaky’s sweater vest, Brian … oops, can’t remember but with Freddie’s leather, just a creatively great vibe. Of course resent Brian’s comment, the negativity.

Brian really didn't like this song when Freddie brought it in. Not because it wasn't a good song but because these were dangerous times and he feared that this was Freddie just ignoring the dangers and going all out . Later Brian did write a little guitar solo and did his part in the harmonies, but he felt the situation was potentially very scary.

This song is used perfectly in 'Shaun of the Dead' (anyone who hasn't seen it -- see it.) This may be a perfect song, and elevates an already good album. I'm surprised it wasn't a bigger hit in the states. Re: Freddie's skill on the piano, in some ways he was the successor to Elton John in that regard. In the states Billy Joel came along to fill that niche, but I'll take Freddie over BJ any day.
@Dillon1210 ай бұрын
Roger plays all the instruments in the next song and do all the vocals. Wikipedia says he played most instruments, but he played it all. So, no Brian, John or Freddie there.
@Aegi9710 ай бұрын
Amazing song obviously. I do prefer the version of this called Don’t Stop Me Now (with Long-Lost Guitars), aptly named due to more of Brian May’s guitar - you should definitely listen to that one at some point.
@LucTonnerre200010 ай бұрын
This is a perfect example where a guitar (apart from the superb solo) is not needed to create a great song. However, there is a version with guitars all through the song and it's not half as good. Of course, May had to put this guitar version on the end credits of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie. Does anybody else has mixed feelings about everything May and Taylor did after Freddie died?
@scottzappa931410 ай бұрын
Few bands will generate the melodies and especially harmonies they do, wow. Yeah it's hard not to like this one. They might be their own genre which changes complexion from time to time with the Taylor and Deacon songs.

A scientific study was done a decade or so ago, into how and why certain songs resonate with people. Queen were mentioned a few times. Most catchy, or sing along song with 'Champions'. Also this one was proven (don't ask me how) to be the most uplifting song studied.

After several duds, this is the Queen we know and love. It doesn't get old. Great pop music. Only bit of criticism: the emphasis on "Mr. Fahrenheit", which is a bit of silly writing. The only Mr. Fahrenheit is Gabriel Fahrenheit. Also, UK had switched from F to Celsius 20 years earlier, which makes it even sillier. Other than that, this is just Queen doing what they do best. Jazz rating: 2/10, not very jazzy. Great, enthusiastic reaction.
