So sad he passed so young. What a talent. The whole band was brilliant, but Freddie was something really special. Like Ella, Bing Crosby, Sinatra, and Karen Carpenter, these "voices" come along only once in a long, long time. There are many great singers, but these artists were in their own league.

So fun fact all four members write and have written #1 hits for the band. For instance the bassist John Deacon wrote Another One Bites The Dust. The guitarist Brian May who is also a rocket scientist and astrophysicist wrote We Will Rock You. His voice his actually my favorite. Listen to the Queen song All Dead All Dead or Sail Away Sweet Sister. Brian sings on those. Also Freddie was bisexual. The Queen song Love Of My Life is about his true love Mary Austin. Give them a listen.

Absolutely one of the best bands ever, Queens legendary live performances were absolutely amazing and Freddie’s flamboyant performances were outstanding he always played to the crowds and had them in the palm of his hand , All the members of Queen have written No 1 hits , and Queens greatest hits is still the best selling album of all time in 🇬🇧 Uk , Queen have sold over 300 million albums worldwide,Michael Jackson was a Queen fan and it wasn’t unusual to see him attending a Queen concert, Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson did a couple of duets together in Michaels studio, but one day Freddie said I cannot work with Michael again, asked why Freddie replied Jackson insisted on bringing his pet Lama into the studio, check out Queens Live Aid performance, classed as the greatest live performance of a band , were they stole the show from 20 other famous artists who also played that day at Wembley Stadium 1985 , great reaction thanks !

I love how Freddie's in his leather suit, Brian May had already decided to stick with the long hair (as he has to this day) even when the other three had cut it off, and John Deacon is just jamming on the base in his white button-up shirt and knitted slipover. 😂 At this point in their esthetic journey, they look like four people who would never have met if it hadn't been for the music. But thank god they did.

Whilst I agree that the live aid performance is legendary, I still prefer the 1981 'Somebody To Love' performance in Montreal. And not to detract from Freddie's undeniably world class talent, the other members were also extraordinary. You are just scratching the surface. Brian May is one of the best rock guitarists of all time. Many guitarists including those in later heavy metal bands were influenced by May whose heavier sound soars throughout their Live at the Rainbow set. Roger Taylor's vocal range (the drummer) matches that of Mercury and really supported Freddie's voice during Live Concerts. Taylor and John Deacon on drums and bass glued everything together. Obviously, you are not deep into their catalogue, but they are all amazing musicians and songwriters. Only band that all 4 members wrote number 1 hits. Take a listen to some of the Live at the Rainbow set and you will get a deeper appreciation of how each member makes the others better. They always said the sum of the band was greater than each member alone (solo projects, etc.).

Freddie may be known for his vocal range but what is more his "signature" and truly unique to him is his VIBRATO. It's how fast he's able to vibrate his vocal chords while singing. Here are two superb examples: *Who Wants to Live Forever* - specifically live Friday night (they did 2 nights in 1986 at Wembley which ended up being the last time they performed there). The passion of his voice, power, strength, and vibrato is spectacular. Ironically it was during Saturday's performance Freddie said to the band he couldn't do tours any more (not knowing he was sick but the exhaustion was getting to him). Never showing publicly just how tired he was!!!! WOW kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4DLpn5tlr-Ur9k *You Take My Breath Away* - specifically live at Hyde Park 1976 before it was recorded on an album. It's ultimately just Freddie and really shows his vibrato and his ability to sing with half effort (not a whisper but almost like pushing air out like you do to clean eyeglasses). It's the song that turned me into an obsessed fan. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3Oln5huh5tprtE
