China's LEAST Biased T-80U At a "Balanced" BR - T-80UD/BE - War Thunder

The only Chinese high-tier mbt with a 6.5s reload and the usual Gen 2 thermal is very worthwhile to grind, IMO. It also has the thickest side armor. The frontal armor is no joke, the autoloader model is higher due to the t80 model, and overall probably one of the best armored given the low silhouette and smallest lower plate out of all Chinese mbts. It is definitely something to bring, even for the top-tier lineup. Higher tier Chinese lineup technically has 5 unique chassis if you really want to bring them, ZTZ99A/WZ1001, ZTZ99 II/III, Khalid/VT-4/MBT2000, T-80UD, ZTZ96A. Meanwhile Germany: Leo, Leo, Leo, Leo, Leo, US: M1, M1, M1, M1, M1

If Russians make the T-series have neutral steer, better reverse, better gun deperess, then the T-series is prolly the best tank. The tough front armor and low silhouette is already really good.

@@MJA-0330 a good chassis that’s enough to hold its own for over half a century is definitely very good irl, but it’s a video game, so having a bunch of different wacky tank chassis is definitely what an mbt enjoyer would want. It’s not about how strong they are, but just pure fun. And I can argue that regardless of irl, at least in game, most T-80s are tankier than most leopards, and is the back bone of capping points, if you only snipe ofc you would take the Leo over the T-80.

I'm secretly hoping one day we see the Object 785 in the game. It's from the late 70s and is an improved T-80B with seven road wheels and had a new generation 125mm smoothbore gun. There was also a 130mm rifled gun (An improved version of the Object 279's main gun) tested as well.

Wikipedia lists a top speed of 75 kmh. This would be among the fastest mbt's. Also the 130mm gun would be very funny since it's basically an improved obj 279 gun.

Yeah, yet another T-80. But I love T-80's, and I love Chinese 11.0 lineup so it's a no-brainer for me. I hope we get one of the other Pakistani T-80UD's though, those with T-84 turret and 6DT-2E powerpack. It's the same powerpack on MBT-2000, that would be fun.

@DukusOctaviosthe8th I would rank it slightly before the US due to the existence of ztz99 ii/iii, and now t80ud. my ranking: USSR, Sweden, France, Japan, Italy, Germany, UK, China, US, Israel as of current update. Of course I presume everything is maxed out so you should have for example Bhishma for the UK and about 4xT80 chassis including obj 292, t80bvm, t80ue1, t80u/uk/um2 in your ussr lineup.

i just did a 9.7 france got insta full uptiered and 4 chinese players at 10.7 on our team, all left after doing notthing and wasting a backup while being bottem 4 on team. Basicly useless for the team and our team got steamrolled with me on 1st spot even in the full uptier in french tanks. Just sadge, i may stay clear of 9.7-11.0 for a while cos of this event. Match is over so quick even using teammates for cover/bait/distractions is imposible and makes getting nukes near imposible too.

Also the t-84 and it variants are developments of the t-80UD which was designed at the same time as the t80u except in Ukraine while the U was developed in russia

Only reason to put this in a lineup is if you bought the Pakistani Mi-35M. Otherwise stick to the Chinese 10.3 with a slightly better matchmaker.

Small thing but this improves the hull-down survivability a fair bit. This and gen 2 thermals I'd say it justifies the bump in BR.

While its a somewhat worthwhile addition; there's just no reason to play this over the ZTZ99's at .3 higher where you get a much better lineup. In my opinion at least.

Up tier it maybe. Probably a bit better brawler or sniper as it’s more armored and better loading speed. Tho since I didn’t use the ztz99-II and III (went for the wz and then just the 99a) I don’t really know if they are worse/better. The mbt2k would probably for me still be the best. A bit more squishy and a bit worse thermals for the ability to be a mobility demon.

its actually modelled wrong (uses model of standard UD which in PA service was the T-80UD/DU-1) so probably you should rename the video title as gaijin has also corrected this. the T-80UD/BE is the next generation of the PA tank and features a new turret

TURMS has way worse survivability (but thermals), T-80UD has better survivability (but no thermals). Both have subpar general mobility in the upper BR environment. Pakistani UD has the Soviet UD survivability (+ extra ERA tiles where the IR spotlight is gone, next to the breech) and TURMS thermals. Nothing wrong with their respective BR IMO. The only downside of the """Chinese""" UD is the lack of lineup to back it up.
