My Ma's eldest bro did something like that when he past. First he put the family farm in a trust that cant be sold. That is over 2000 ac, 1000 of which, my forbear bought all 2000 ac of in 1832, is hunting wet land which he put in a wet land trust. Family members control trust by working the farm. at this time that is my eldest Cousin and his bros Grand-son-in-law. But here is what my Uncle did. He made the trust so that family member who wants to build a house can have 1ac pf land todo so on for free. 30 of us so far have done so. Go to Fabius NY and drive out Ridge Road. U will find what is every one calls Bumpusville. There are now a 7th gen living there.

I think you could have ran a lot more of that brush and even some of the bigger logs through the wood chipper, especially with the ability to switch the feeding type. I would have ran the smaller bushy stuff in a separate pile and made a pile of good chips from the bigger limbs and logs. Those chippers will eat some pretty good sized logs if you're willing to slow feed them.

Those chippers are well worth the cost. In fact, I highly recommend folks think about getting a rotary mulcher for on their tractors if they have a large enough machine. But, yeah, renting a chipper might seem expensive, but how well they can help you clean up a mess is very much worth the cost!

Justin I hate to say it you do some amazing things but the chipper situation was a fail. In my 40 I cleared an1/2 and half lot practically by hand .All I had was a chainsaw, a riding tractor and hand tools. I worked over the coarse of a year and would separate my wood for chipping as I went. You are in a different situation but like you said it needed to be sorted better before the chipper got there. Believe it or not that was one of the best times of my life. We eventually built our house on that lot. They make these small hand held chain saw now that I just adore. If I could I'd be out there with you ripping branches off.
