love the riff, and as a pianist, I was able to play this by ear. A little training on the guitar and the ear. I didn't watch your hand while you played it, I sat down and played until I got the right notes, and then to check if they were correct I looked at your hands. thanks

I play the minor 3rd by back a couple frets and down a string instead of going to the 10th fret. Just play the starting note w/ third finger on 7th fret, then go down to 5th fret with first finger on the 4th string, then back up to the starting note, then 5th fret/A string w/ 1st finger and then continue with the lower notes as Justin instructs. This is still easy for beginners and more practical.

Alright I finally got the rhythm for this after 5 mins. So this is how you play the riff. All 5th string. Frets are as follows: (a comma means a pause and "to" means play continuously) 1st round: 7, 7 to 10 to 7 to 5 to 3, 2 2nd round: 7, 7 to 10 to 7 to 5 to 3 to 5 to 3 to 2 Yeah the second round is basically zero pauses after the first one but man does it sound good. What an amazing riff. Also can do after that: 6th string 3rd Fret (Strum by counting: one and two and three and four and) Change to 6th string 5th Fret (Again strum by counting one and....four and) Then repeat all over again!

Just a suggestion I found much easier to play starting on 5th string as shown but instead of moving to 5th fret , 3rd fret and 2nd fret I would change to 10th, 8th and 7th fret on 6th string. So there is no necessity to move the hand except for the bridge on third and fifth fret on the 6th string. Thank you very much for your tutorials. Cheers

keep your finger on the string but dont press to hard I think

​@@not_thanh74I actually think it's the opposite It's been a little while since that comment now and I unintentionally learnt to do it, it feels more like just keeping consistent pressure instead. So slide the finger with the exact same pressure you had while picking the string I think so anyways, if you're holding down the string too hard while picking then it would probably not do this either way

I would like to know this too. I think it's just the "ideal" position for the future - because as you get better you'll be moving much faster, so it covers you when you're favouring speed/rhythm over accuracy? But I'm just guessing!

If you follow his beginner course on his website he has explained it there and many such nice tips if you want. The basic idea is you want to not hold the string too tight when you move your finger , hope that helps.
