I am so grateful for the friendship that brings you to Vegas and the Luxor was a really fun place in the 90’s I worked there in 1993 selling tickets to the attractions that use to be in that upper middle level there was a mummy simulator ride a killer arcade a show like soarn’ at Disney I was in 10th grade and worked at the Luxor! The strip is a lot different the stuff I sold tickets for are now in a Las Vegas museum! Thank you for doing all the fun stuff in my backyard the next day off my kids have off during the week we are going to hit the Las Vegas natural history museum!

When Luxor first opened there was a “Nile River” ride that transported you around the lobby, travelling throughout the Egyptian dynastic periods. All the items seen in the museum were part of the ride’s exhibits along the ride.

The tram you got on at Luxor goes in a circuit from Excalibur to Luxor to Mandalay Bay then repeats backwards. The one on the far end that did not stop is a direct train from start to end (Mandalay to Excalibur). Also back when Luxor opened you could go up to the top, but with security increases you need the room key now. The elevators go on the left and right of those windows I believe as well.

The little house in the Excalibur moat is Merlin's House. Pack in the 90's there was a battle between an animatronic Merlin and a huge dragon. They stopped it after 9/11. It's rumored the dragon is still in there but knowing how Vegas destroys almost everything, I doubt it.

You are so right about expanding the monorail! Have it go futher east to get to the Harry Reid airport and circle around it south then west along Sunset Rd to Las Vegas Blvd and south to the Brightline West station at Warm Spring Rd. You would not have to get out into Summer's heat of the day travelling to any of your destinations unnecessarily. Would be twice as long of a trip but in air conditioned comfort and with bags in tow it would be very popular travelling into Vegas!

I remember talk about a Monorail going from Disneyland to Las Vegas and I couldn't wait to ride it. Sadly it never happened. Vegas has changed so much since then I hardly recognize it. We visited those hotels in the 90’s. Excalibur and MGM also had carnival games. We won lots of plush toys(I think it was witch in a cauldron, and Wizard of Oz monkeys). Luxor had a central plaza with exhibits and motion simulators. MGM Grand had a small amusement park, and up the road, Circus Circus had one too. Treasure Island had a pirate ship show, and carnival games too. Vegas was a lot cleaner back then. Now there’s strippers on the sidewalks, showing their honkers, in front of families walking down the Strip.

The New York New York Hotel Statue Of Liberty may be 150 feet tall, but by comparison, she's still literally just under half the size of the Actual Statue Of Liberty standing in New York Harbor NYC!! She, including the pedestal that she stands on top of, reaches 305 feet and 1 inch tall, now just for fun, her height without that pedestal is 151 feet, so the pedestal in and of itself comes in at a height of 154 feet, and quite honestly, I'm not entirely sure where that extra 1 inch comes from whether it's figured into the Statue itself, or the pedestal accounts for it, or a combination of both, or whether that's just out and out bragging on The City's part. Also, just as another fun fact, rumor has it that technically, where the Statue is placed is unofficially in New Jersey Waters, but if NYC feels That Strongly that it Needs The Pride of claiming ownership of The Lovely Lady In The Harbor, and wants to continually provide the funding & finances to keep her adequately maintained , then NJ is more than willing to back off and let them do it even till the end of the age if they insist upon it.

Real quick, as I am thinking about it. I have been to Vegas many times. My mom passed away 10 years ago, (she was 83), my father 27 years ago(he was 61)…..neither of them visited Las Vegas in their entire lives! I like NY…not a fan of the Luxor….we stayed at the Luxor….you go up Inclinators (elevators that don’t go up and down, the go sideways at an angle…it’s the weirdest feeling). The rooms are kinda small. If you look out the window from the room, that also is angled. I bumped my head several times trying to look out!

To answer your question Justin, NO the rooms are not themed. Even the top-dollar pyramid suite is not themed. They are standard "modern deco" styled rooms. Nice big shower in the rooms though. I've stayed at the Luxor three times in the past 20 years (last stay was 2023) and the rooms have never been Egyptian-themed. Unfortunately.

Monorail overrated. Save your money. Take the duece double decker buses , they're cheaper and more convenient. Also look for free trams and shuttles. If you have properties that are connected I recommend utilizing those walkways even though they may not be as convenient , on a hot day they are more comfortable.
