Coming from a massive fan with an outside perspective… early randomland videos were informational, sure, but somewhere along the way you invented a style of vlogging that people STILL can’t replicate: the hyper-edited/high humor/cartoon-like voices/improvised comedy style. Even a staff of writers could not make something as plain as eating a Disneyland corn dog as entertaining as Randomland was able to make it, especially on the fly. Randomland also had zero regard for how the people around filming thought, which encouraged viewers like me to be ourselves even if people judged us for it. The enormous views on those videos speak for themselves. The new informational/TV Documentary style is cool, but there’s just so many of these informational channels now. I still love this channel but it’s like watching someone with the talent of Conan O brien read the news with no jokes. Or Superman taking up a 9-5 job. It’s like watching someone catch lightning in a bottle but then emptying it out for some Mountain Dew. Every time there was a new randomland video I got so excited for a new ADVENTURE, since that’s what the R stands for, but now I feel like I’m clicking on a Guy Fieri road trip tv show, or an offhand Disney/fresh baked video. Don’t get me wrong I love those Channels but anyone can make those if you are dedicated enough. The old adventures were masterclasses in improv comedy/editing/entertainment. Talking with other fans on forums made me realize I’m not the only one who thinks like this.. I hope one day randomland reverts back to that insane style only Randomland can capture, but I understand if that’s not the goal for the channel. Still love the channel and will be clicking like every time.❤️

@Elan Smith- I read your comment twice and Still Not Sure what your Point is ? The only thing I’m getting from this short story is that you don’t embrace change..Creators Need to Evolve so things don’t get stale.. I think Justin knows exactly what he’s doing....Keeping his Duty Fresh😁

I think in the previous years, Justin has always been alternating between comedy and documentary, sometimes he does fun adventures or histories of the park.

Seems to me, he needs to evolve if this is what keeps people clicking, and watching.

I rode the Mules! And I Loved the Indian Village, & the Shooting gallery, but I don't remember seeing the Mermaids. My Nana brought me there on my birthday in 1965. I was 7. I went back on my own when I got out of College in 1979. And I remember it being very hot so I got a Cherry Phosphate & went up in the Swiss Family Tree house in the shade & just people watched until the fireworks & light Parade. Great memories. Thank you! ;)

I was born in 1981 and live off of Cerritos and Brookhurst and had passes for so many summers with my neighbors. My mom lived in Anaheim all her life as well. She and my aunt always told us about the mermaids. I don’t remember even going on the subs until the Finding Nemo retheme.

Fantastic video, again! The mermaids also often did a little underwater show for the guests when the submarines passed by. I understand even with rotating Cast Members, the elements were very hard on hair and skin. Maybe that is why they now live on only in Randomland? Thanks for sharing the memories Justin!

I remember seeing the Mermaids as a kid in 1966 and 1967. It was quite a sight. BTW, there are photos out there of the Mermaid auditions held at the Disneyland Hotel swimming pool! It was the chlorene in the water that pretty much ended the Mermaid program.... I also remember driving the Flying Saucers... you had to lean into them to make them work.

Great video, Justin! Good to see you back in the park and you covered a lot of ground! I never saw a mermaid, but always wished I had. I agree that money was the root cause of taking away that wonderful part of the Submarine Voyage show. After Walt's death, I'm sure the plussing of many attractions went by the wayside. Those cute mermaids really got put through the ringer! I also heard that the chlorine made the blonde's hair turn green over the summers. Now it's the stuff of Disney legend!

Hey Justin, love the newest video. Question, I remember as a younger man (I’m 50 now) on the pirates ride when floating through the bayou you could hear a banjo playing from inside one of the shacks. I could swear as he was playing it’s like he broke a string, I can only ever remember hearing this once in my life. Have you ever heard the same thing? P.S. how is the van? I hope it got you safely back home.
