He IS absolutely the greatest guitar player of all time. Even the best of the best admit it. He wasn't COMPETING with Hendrix. He idolized him. He inspired Stevie. They say you don't become better than your master. Oh yes you can. He used to sneak his big brother's guitar while he wasn't home and play it in the closet, knowing full well if he got caught he'd get beat up. And he did get caught. He also played with 12 gauge strings which would split his fingertips open but he's just superglue them closed and keep playing. He was a beast. What a gifted man this was. He is dearly missed. His estate doesn't do his legacy justice by blocking his videos but I guess they're afraid they're gonna miss a dollar. Sad. This man needs to be HEARD! AND seen. These reactions are helping that. Good job.

His older brother taught him a little the they did as brothers do and turned it into a contest.. but it wasnt long before he was to far ahead of his brother...he had alot of things going for him like he practiced harder than anyone else you will ever meet.. to the point that he would cut off calouses and super glue them on his fingers where he had worn them raw so he could practice more.. now thats a level of dedication so far above what any normal person would ever go... he was also extreamly humble and never let his talent get to his head.. he always showed respect to other players and other styles.. i went to 6 of his concerts and sometimes he would play for 2 hours.. and sometimes when he was in a zone he would play for 4 hours.. he wanted everyone to have a good time, treat everyone with respect , and wanted everyone to feel like they got their monies worth..i never seen Hendrix but i do have his complete collection and always put him high on the list.. top 5.. along with Ertic Clapton. Chuck Berry, and B.B. King but while each gifted music in slightly differrent sounds.. for Me SRV will always be the greatest and a sound i can enjoy any day any time any where.. he truely was and is the greatest ever...

You should know the story of the white guitar that SRV is playing. A friend of his named Charley Wirz build it for him back when SRV was poor and unheard of. Charley Wirz died of a heart attack and SRV wrote this song as his eulogy. He also named the guitar “Charley” in honor of his friend. That’s why you see him change guitars at the beginning of this video - SRV tried whenever possible to play Charley for Life Without You

This is a nostalgic story for me. My father bought and traded guitars at Charlie's shop. When I was around 10 or eleven, he ordered a custom 3/4 Yamaha acoustic at Charlie's. I carried that guitar around with me for years. Later, when I was a budding electric guitar player in the 80s, and knowing that SRV had recently become my favorite guitarist at the time, my father faked some "issues" with my at-the-time beloved mid-70s cherry sunburst Les Paul so he could "take it into the shop" and he lent me another Les Paul to play in the meantime. When the guitar was returned, it was autographed by Stevie Ray Vaughan himself. I'm sorry to say that the guitar was stolen along with other guitars and equipment several years later, but having that in my history is and will be heartwarming and bittersweet. 🖤❤️🖤

You do know that Stevie Ray played with 13 gauge strings. Literally like industrial cables, that would rip off your fingertips. Stevie was always using Super Glue to glue his callouses back on whenever they'd fall off. He'd glue on whatever skin he could find. His longtime guitar tech said Stevie would even ask him if he had any extra skin he could use from time to time. He was a guitar beast. 🎸

Saw him in Auckland NZ back in 86 -87 The only gig i've been at where you turned around and everyone had their mouths open in awe.
