SO READY for the album closer “View from a Hill”!!!! One of the most astonishing and beautifully haunting album closers I’ve ever heard. I still get chills thinking about it…. Can’t wait for that reaction

Always good to see The Chameleons get some love. Really under valued band . It would be cool to see some reactions to the offshoot bands!...The Sun And The Moon etc, they also did some killer stuff.

One of my all time favorite bands, The Chameleons, in my mind, improved with each successive album. Paper Tigers has always been a cautionary song for me. You can pick how deep you go - beware fake people pulling you into their orbit, or beware the outer enticements of vices like hard drugs - heroin being the easy escape of the early 80s.

The last song you accidentally played there about 2 seconds... remind you of an American band? Interpol! View from a hill is basically early Interpol! you are in for a melancholic treat.

All haves came from have-nots. The leopard can't change its spots. In the war against Paper Tigers, paying their own way are the freedom fighters. Chameleons change colors. Just like politicians and their Big Brothers.Peace and Love. Good cut.😁

Does this album ever end?? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the music, but I thought we had been through with this already. It seems to go on forever 😄

Oddly, according to Mark Burgess this song was inspired by a tour they were supposed to play with Killing Joke, who arrived several hours late to the first show and ended up starting a fight. KJ's manager apologized and asked them to play the rest of the tour, but they said no way and walked out. So it's basically The Chameleons hated Killing Joke song, though I have no idea how you could get that from the lyrics.

@sunstar9778 apparently it says that, but I asked him myself and he said it was about drug sellers.

@sunstar9778 yes I guess.

This is not true. Mark recently confirmed on the official fan Facebook group that the song isn’t about killing joke.

A point to make (with respect after only one listen)... That was monotone. What's happened to storylines layering towards a big chorus or emotional change-ups. It's what turns good tracks into great ones that get into your soul.
@Eduardo-Ferreira198210 ай бұрын
Yeah, but the genre is almost always like that. And I like it, anyway.

Each to their own I s'pose. I'm still living in the 70s. I 'switched off' early 80s and have only recently been diving into bands I'm unfamiliar with, courtesy of this channel. To be honest I'm struggling to find modern stuff I like.

The song lyrically is about people who sell drugs. Mark Burgess founder/bassist/lyricist actually told me that! C

after a while these tracks / this LP became a trifle dull to my ears...specifically the drowsiness of the vocals. october by u2 maybe suffered the same fate - melodies somewhat repetitive and strained but i was 18! Bono was a boot wearing flag waving poseur of the highest order . who knows , had i heard the chameleons or the sound or comsat angels in 81 i would've thought yes please .... as it was i loved THE pAssions and DOLL BY DOLL associates and the triffids china crisis and erasure every day of the week but THE lilac time every saturday so now u know 56% for this but a few good acoustic breaks it must be said i couldn;t get robert smith outta my ears either diolch x
