Maxima is wearing the famous Stuart tiara for this dinner, which has an interesting Dutch/British history. The huge diamond on the front of the tiara was bought by William of Orange (King William III) for his Scottish/British wife Queen Mary in the 1600s. At the time it was the world's largest diamond until the late 1800s. After William and Mary died, Queen Anne returned the diamond to the Dutch royal family.
