I had to stop and look. I am restoring my 70 GTX deep burnt orange with matching interior buckets and automatic consol. 440-6 engine 727 auto and 3:23 83/4 rear end. I have rebuilt the front suspension and brake master and all 4 wheels. Engine is warmed over with aluminum heads and 7 qt. Milodon pan. 484 purple shaft cam. I did all the work myself so far. Just needed help to take the air grabber hood off. Rebuilt the 3 Holly carbs and she runs great. No exhaust yet so it sounds like a drag car. I have owned the car since 80 and the body had very little rust. I should have it going by summer next year. This video gets me in the mood to go out and sand some more. Thanks Mopar Joe. Good luck on your resto.

Well Joe,looks like you got a fair size project there. I am partial to green 70 roadrunners since I have one. I'm putting in both quarters complete floor as well as trunk floor. Mine was originally a 383 bench seat post car and I still have the pistol grip and 4 speed transmission. Still J5 lime light green. Its getting a 440. I'm sure you'll get that old bird back in shape just fine. As always I enjoy your videos.

@JustMoparJoe Жыл бұрын
Hey, thank you! Warmed up with a standard oil pump I would look for 40-60 psi oil pressure. You may see more than that with a high volume, depending on what your clearances are. I actually swapped my old 408 to a standard volume and never had an issue below 6,500 rpm.
@loydhicks3413 Жыл бұрын
@JustMoparJoe well I must have something bad wrong in my engine the 83 318 LA engine it was bored 30 over a reman crankshaft kit turned 20 20 mains sn rods rods all came out even numbers 15 thousandths I can't remember what mains plasti guaged out at but it was what machine shop gave me to go by I know that new cam bearings they installed oh and I did confirm with them it was a standard oil pump a launati voodoo cam they told me would have a mild lope to it and doesn't it's as smooth as original that was in it new oil pick up tube I raised it a half inch off bottom of oil pan it is a solid loft flat tappet cam I also went by yiur video an dumped lifters in a bucket of oil didn't pump them either I primes engine whst gets me initial start I seen oil preasure 80 PSI cold first start up broke cam in 20 min at 2 grand rpms. It was a successful brake in pulled valve covers after brake in double checked made sue no collapsed lifters and all pushrods were spinning used a white paint marker on them although all wasn't spinning as fast as others they all were turning at about 750 rpms the oil preasure Guage is a aftermarket verified good because it was on this same engine prior to getting throttle stuck wide open an did something to bottom enf of engine because it immediately had developed a knock asked machine shop to calk me once it was torn down an let me know what they determine was tge knock because I checked all mains sn rods none was spun so I figured it had to be wrist pin machine shop let engine set do long never wrote down why I brought it and like I said owner of shop got covid was in 70s and I had to pick up engine an parts an finish build myself
@loydhicks3413 Жыл бұрын
@JustMoparJoe forgot to ads to previous text engine is cold start 60 to 65 pis now and after I bring it to operating temperature at about 700 to 750 rpm I'm seeing about 25 to 30 PSI in park in gesr it's between 20 to 25 PSI valve covers was removed again oil squinting out every rocker good no noise at idle or REVING ENGINE Joe this engine was holding 45 PSI after a 2 hour drive at idle in gear before I messed up whatever it was in engine when I got throttle stuck open but that of course was ne using a quart of Lucas stabilize the thinner stuff an not the black label synthetic and 10w40 oil I'm using advance auto house blend fram 10w30 conventional and 16 ounces of engine brake in with zinc nothing else Joe what could be the problem wth oil preasure or is this normal like I ssid no noise at idle or reving up gunning it erratically I trust your opinion and 318 will run opinion the two of you guys should get together an do a build or revival
@JustMoparJoe Жыл бұрын
@@loydhicks3413 25-30 is fine at idle, hot. As long as it increases when you rev, should be good. The old rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1,000 rpm. Also, are you sure the plug is in the rear oil galley? I’ll drop that link here.
