Everyone is appalled at Setsuna and Azama's incompetence, I think that's what makes them one of the funniest retainer duos (aside from Niles and Odin maybe).

Niles and Odin are very capable despite their odd quirks. Leo is never required to compensate for them at all. However, Hinoka is constantly carrying Setsuna and Azama for even the most trivial matters. Both Kagero and Saizo are almost as dedicated as Frederick and they both gave up on training Setsuna.

Niles and Odin are very capable, I just think the whole trios dynamic is hilarious. Niles is lewd, Odin is dramatic, and Leo's just over there like "I'm going to go do stuff, don't be weird while I'm gone."

I feel like Frederick would, after a while, just take the direct approach. "Azama, clean these clothes", "But" WHACK, blunt axe to the Gut. "Azama, clean these clothes", and see how long it takes for Azama to learn. Frederick has no time for that type of thing. Setsuna would be harder, because it's not a deliberate thing you can discipline, but he would try to help her, by Naga he would try.

Real missed opportunity to not include a support for them in the Before Awakening Xenolouge. She basically serves the same purpose as Jakob-so it makes no sense why they couldn’t have one where Frederick is utterly horrified that Felicia is such an abysmal maid to the lord that she serves in spite of being a very capable fighter. The comedy would have been pure gold.

Yeah, Hinoka did get the short end of the stick when it came to retainers. Sure, Leo's, Xander's, Elise's and Sakura's retainers have some major quirks, but at least they're efficient, especially for Camilla's, Ryoma's, Takumi's, Mikoto's and Corrin's (Felicia is at least very effective in battle despite sucking as a maid).

in any case for Royma and Takumi their retainers seem normal to me. For Camilla, Mikoto was saying to make it simple that half are normal and the other half are psychopaths. Good, for Corrin on a personal basis but if I have to consider that his retainers are Silas and Kaze that seems normal to me.
