This one is a real treat! Seeing a classic 727 with a practically brand-new panel, RVSM altimeters and a modern FMC still doing its thing in the 21st century is truly carries me away! Mad respect for the very professional and expert crew, keeping up the legacy.

These planes are old but these guys appear unperturbed and just get in the cockpit and fly. The last captain was the best. His accent when he says “gear up” is so cool coupled with his yolk action at 26:55. I salute aerosucre and JP for bringing us intimate flight deck action.

From about 6:30 mark in the video, you can see the thrust levers are not equally set. Can somebody explain to me why that is so ?
@mscigniewrudzinski5053 Жыл бұрын
As the engines on 727 are non FADEC, it means the computer does not equalize the thrust, so tiny adjustments need to be made to make sure the actual N1/EPR is symmetrical.
@Flying_Shamrock Жыл бұрын
I believe the autothrottle does not effect the thrust levers so until autothrottle disengages they thrust lever position means nothing just a guess
@il_dalla Жыл бұрын
These old engines are not fitted with FADEC (a computer which basically controls the throttle levers and the thrust) so, the aircraft, is not fitted with an autothrottle. Moving on with the years, the cables between thrust levers and engines become worn, so the pilots have to adjust the levers in order to obtain the same amount of EPR/N1 even with worn control cables
@danhalen4231 Жыл бұрын
Any number of reasons. That particular engine could be running hotter than the other two so therefore they run it slower than the others. The cabling from throttle to engines could be rigged slightly different than the other engines. These are old birds and tolerances may not be as tight as they used to be.
@CenterofAviation Жыл бұрын
The engines on some of these old birds don’t run identically to each other, so one thrust lever might be in a slightly different spot than the other to achieve the correct EPR for takeoff thrust.
@stulop Жыл бұрын
The 727 wheel well so much tidier than the 737s.
