I mean they can run for a VERY long time without an oil change, but the drawbacks are decreased engine efficiency and possible wear down due to foreign particles getting in, which in turn leads to major engine damage. 5:32 For one, always keep a fire extinguisher in your car. Not something we want to use but it is a necessity. Obviously at this point the fire may be too big but 1) it doesn’t hurt to try with the extinguisher anyway 2) you can prevent it from getting this big in the first place 3) after you use a fire extinguisher or after it is 10 years old have the extinguisher recharged or replaced, based on the discretion of a licensed fire marshal 4) have your extinguisher inspected every 1-10 years, you don’t want to find out during a fire that it doesn’t work 5) it should be easily accessible during a fire where you have few seconds or less to unstrap and grab or whatever and useable by a non-trained person but you should train others regardless 6) it should be in enough quantity or big enough to put out a fire 7) optional but still recommended: you may even want to practice using some in a drill. Go to your fire pit and pour some gasoline on it. Light it on fire and have someone else (if other person is present) set a stopwatch and possibly video it. See how efficiently you can take the extinguisher out, yell for others to evacuate (do this drill once a week, fortnight, or month because too long you may forget and too often may cause neighbor annoyance, if you don’t have neighbors then do this as much as you want) and put the fire out. How many extinguishers did it take? And even if you don’t do the stopwatch and video to review your mistakes, the practice will do you good in the future. And remember that in the real event you will call FD but not in practice.
@jayasmrmore36872 жыл бұрын
TL;DR 5:32 proactively know how to use your fire extinguisher and keep some in your vehicle. Practice drills using your fire pit if you need to. This is a summary but I still recommend you read the entire thing, although reading the summary is better than nothing.

I'm a mechanic. I spent the whole video (apart from the broken oil filter who pulled over straight away) shaking my head and scrunching my face. The welding on that exhaust, I've never seen anything like it, I mean I've seen bad welds but not so many on one car, and the fact it was welded to the actual body. I'm impressed by the BMW with no oil changes for 68k went on to run well and the mechanic who cleaned it up, bravo. The wiring in that Honda gave me anxiety. Not super in to cars, but I had a early 90s Sony str-av570 home stereo receiver that had a random light on the front blink and a clicking noise when shut off, and it would make a loud popping noise through the speakers when powered on. The tuner also seemed to randomly stop working for a few seconds sometimes, and only pick up whatever station it wanted to. Other than that, it functioned perfectly and sounded great through nice speakers. The problem was a single loose ground screw!!! Faulty grounds seem to always cause these “item X is possessed. I made a wall of shame for our shop as customers walk up a ramp to the service door, they see many pictures of mistreatment and failures, with probable issues/symptoms to be seen/felt/heard with each picture. Its funny when customers recognize a picture from their own tractor. Tends to calm their anger before coming in and blaming the equipment for their failures as an operator. Hydraulic oil gets shiny when something is wrong. Some customers will say, "thats break in." I usually say, "sir, your tractor has 1,000 hrs on it and you haven't changed the hydraulic filters since 200 hrs. Thats not break in, thats something broken." The excuses are ridiculous.

Before the computer systems and cameras were mandatory in my state. You could just pay people to pass you. Now it's a lot better.
