Fun fact: for the movie's 30th anniversary a few years ago, an independently operated McDonald's in Chicago "dressed" as McDowell's for Halloween. The owner changed the sign, the menu and the employee uniforms. It was brilliant.

I have to say this...Im a grown ass old ass 41 year old man. Fun fact: that McDowell's was actually a Wendy's. The address they gave at the church event was the actual address of the Wendy's. After the movie, they had pictures of the cast hung up around the restaurant. Unfortunately, they tore it down a few years ago.

Yes, this movie was Samuel L. Jackson's very first movie appearance. As for Cuba Gooding Jr getting a fake haircut (notice Eddie Murphy was just clipping the air and never touched the wig with his scissors), Cuba Gooding Jr did have a few lines but he said they were cut out of the scene.

There's a rather beautiful connection with this movie and the television series of 'ROOTS' from the 70's. John Amos, who plays Mr. McDowell, played the adult Kunta Kinte, and Madge Sinclair, who played the Queen in this movie, played Kunta's wife!
