I will start mine today. 😊 Alot of the old patterns I remember my grandmother had. My late mother was born 1914. She was 50 yrs when she got me. 😊 Doing crochet was something every girl was learn to do in the olden days. I was 6 yrs when my mom put a crochet hook in my hand for the first time. I'm 59 today😊

Oh my , when I seen this I couldn't believe I would ever see a pattern for it. I'm 73 now but I've been croching since The age of 20. I have been doing repair jobs on old vintage pieces in the past and this is the exact runner I repared for a lady about 20 some years ago. Mice had chewed on it in storage ,it was an arloom piece the the young Lady didn't want to loose. I liked it so much that I tried to copy to paper the pattern but that's not an easy task, I have it now so thank you so much for your vintage channel. I'm a big fan , and you know I'm starting this runner asap. I am so over the moon happy. Thank you !,

Wow! I have a huge round table topper made by a great aunt that has those woven straps all around the circumference. Every time I get it out to use it, I admire the criss-crosses and try to figure out how they were done. Now I have an idea. I figure it was probably made about the same time-frame, possibly a few years later. It’s a treasured possession, even though I never knew this great aunt, simply because I know the work that went into it. Thanks for this video!

You'll be proud of me (I'm proud of myself). I just purchased an entire set of crochet hooks, with the steel hooks ranging in size from 0.6-1.9mm, and began the process of learning to use the smaller hooks. Currently, with #10 crochet cotton, I'm actually comfortable using the 1.25mm hook, which means I can make this project! The work is slow, and tension is a whole different animal than with worsted weight yarn, but I'm able to do it. We all have a list of things we can't do, but I'm finding that the list needs to be revisited and edited from time to time.

This is a wonderful project. With myself being left handed, it really helps for me to have a picture of the finished piece ( I’m less likely to mess up😏😏😂) ! Plus I have been known to count stitches using a magnifying glass and trying not to blink till I get the count done . I’d bet you could crochet a runner using the “ border count “ and it would look beautiful .

I have an antique table runner hanging in my dining room with this exact same pattern on both ends. It has always been in the family and was assumed that my great grandmother made it, being an 1899 pattern it could have easily been my great great grandmother that made it! My mind has seriously been blown. It's so intricate that I always assumed it was somehow factory made.

My Great Aunt used to sit with a crochet hook and ball of whatever, no pattern, and just sit crocheting while she'd chat with you, producing amazing pieces of work apparently. I was lucky enough to meet her when she was in her nineties and sadly severely arthritic, but I have some of her work thank goodness. They are guarded jealously!!!! 🥰🥰

Thanks for showing us the pattern! Although my Aunt and older relatives did this type of work, I was too young to see it. These patterns are not so complex, but without ever seeing someone make this style, these projects were just too mysterious. Great video!

Wow I have an original made by my grandmother in the early 1900s. As her version is so old and fragile and is falling to pieces, I remade it from the original using 8 ply wool and cotton. It was originally a doily but the copy I have made is about a metre in diameter .

I made a beautiful runner for my son and daughter in law for the Scary Thanksgiving season of 2020 and2021 !! It is made of tapestry crochet and spells (cursive) THANKFUL, + the Year.s.. turned out beautiful! Although I wish I'd added borders like THIS one... Maybe someday?

thanks for the great video. I am a weaver and this would look great at the ends of my weavings. I use size 10 crochet thread to weave, and I could easily match the colors to give the illusion of 0ne piece, like the warp threads turn from woven to crochet. This would also look cool sewn onto a pillow top. Keep up the great work!! Cheers!

I've not watched this all the way through yet so you may have mentioned this idea. I was thinking if you put 2 or 3 of these together & folded the top straight edge over to make a pocket for a rod to go through, it would make a beautiful curtain/window valance. Its so pretty! 🩷🤗

I'd do this up with a B or C hook in a variety of colors of fingering yarn n tack it to a pulldown shade. Pretty pieces they toiled on back then. Many blessings ya'll.

This is bringing back memories. Check out The Owl Sevice by Alan Garner for background But back in the 1980's I think it was there was a blue and white dinner service of similar design. The question was, is it owl faces or is it flowers
