Oh my gosh - memory unlocked! My mom made these for us when I was a kid! They weren't so great for playing in the snow, as it'd slip between the holes and get wet inside and out. I didn't really care, I kept on playing in the snow with cold hands - but once I came inside Mom wouldn't let me wear them again until they'd dried completely. 😂 What a lovely memory!

My mom made these every year for us as children, this is one I have made over and over again from memory for my own children as well . They are fast and easy, special ed teacher at school asked to have them made for her entire elementary school class , many mittens getting lost , cold little hands during NY winters.

Very good tutorial...made these in the past and was looking for pattern for sizing. Made these for the kids to wear over gloves for extra warmth, would chain them together to run down the inside arms of their coats so they didn't lose one!

Squeee!!!! My grandma made mittens like these for me and my siblings & cousins when we were kids, and for her great grandkids, too. My daughter had a pair in a toddler size that were made for her before my grandma passed. Kiddo wore them until well after they were too small. I am so excited to see this pattern so I can make her another pair because she loved her original pair so much. Thank you for this tutorial :)

I made these years ago but modified the pattern. I slip stitch the cuffs from the beginning edgefor a better fit and have a lot more sizes in-between. I made a graph with all the numbers included (one page only). Also made a thumbless mitten for babies

What an awesome pattern. So easy. I have seen someone do a similar pattern but left to right like a book. It made it hard to alter. Your pattern is so much easier and one of my favorite stitch patterns. My niece cut her hand when she was a child. It damaged the tendon in her thumb and left scar tissue between her thumb and pointer. Her thumb doesn't bend. I make her mittens with more space for her bum thumb.😂 These will be perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this!✌🏻💟😁🧶🇺🇸

Was so surprised and excited to see this video tutorial. I had been searching last year for this exact pattern, and with help it was located and I completed my first pair. Like many others, I recalled this mitten from when I was younger and my Gramma used to make them for us grandkids in our school colors. I have 1 remaining pair of hers from the 70s! I know that decade as that was my high school then. Your video did clarify a few things, but most of it I had worked out. Finally, Makes me wonder when the original iteration was recorded…. Thank you so much for sharing your enthusiasm and talent with us! 🧶🥇

This would be an easy pattern to modify in order to make it longer for larger hands. My daughter and I have really long fingers and women’s gloves/mittens never fit the length of our fingers.
@3rdand105 Жыл бұрын
These are actually the first pair of crocheted mittens that I like the look of. In preparation for the upcoming rumored second lockdown, I was going to knit a mask for everyone I know (I made a few for the first lockdown, it's literally a sock heel with ear straps, and it takes me about an hour to make), but the mittens are a lot more appealing to me, so that takes care of Christmas for the ladies in my life. They're all adults, I already know their favorite colors, so I'll be stocking up on my next yarn run mid-September. As always, thank you for everything you do, even if it does generally modify my production schedule lol.

Started making the adult woman's size with 5mm hook but hand portion was still too short (about 5 1/2" long) for my short hands. Will re-do adding about 10 or more chains so that wrist part will reach my wrist. Great easy pattern though!
@SarahK86Ай бұрын
I have really big hands so I've made mine 101 chains. But I could have made them a tad bigger than that. I'm also using DK Weight yarn because that's what I have on hand.
@SarahK86Ай бұрын
Yup, it's still too short in the hand area and definitely not wide enough. So basically, I'm just winging it from now on.

The one thing I always hated about gloves and socks is that doing it once is never finished. I have to do the whole thing again for the other side. I guess I don't have the patience for it. Its just a whole lot easier to buy them ready made. 🤣😂 Don't get me wrong, I have done gloves several times. I just grew to hate it though. I'm a one-and-done kind of girl. 😁 I'll watch you make them.
