Im totally in love with any vet that allows a nurse/rescuer to avail themselves of the syringe and other needed stock while bringing in the bats for xrays! Im surprised that Adrian hasnt tried to recruit you to his staff Meg! Thanks for a great video! 😇❤️🖤🦇🖤❤️

LOL, Adrian doesn't really work there anymore; he's not on staff. He does 2 shifts a week as a locum. I help myself whichever vet I go to; I do the same thing with Lydia and Sandra. They bill me for it, but it's part of the procedure. It helps to give the bats fluids when they have an anaesthetic; it supports their circulation and helps them recover faster. And I didn't give them fluids before I left. I should have chipped them as well at the time, had I thought far enough ahead.

The reduction in Wheelibin's swelling was amazing! Yay for good x-rays! That bird staring in your door demanding breakfast reminds me of our latest homeless cat who sits and stares just outside the door waiting for breakfast. He used to sit 4-5 meters away. He now belly slinks out of reach when I put a dish of food out but starts wolfing it down as soon as I step back. I'm not sure who's training who. Do any other female viewers think more video shots of Adrian would be dreamy? 🙂 Thank you, Meg!

We do love Adrian’s voice. Meg, please don’t let that one horrible woman bother you any longer (or as they say, “live rent free in your head”). She was just a nasty troll, and she’s gone. We regulars know that you know bats, and that you always do what’s best for them. I appreciate you, and so do many others here. Thank you for the updates on Wheelibin and Hector. 💙
@Megabattie10 ай бұрын
I don't think she was horrible, but some people are put off by my manner and assertiveness, so I asked Adrian if it was an issue with him, because he's never seemed to have a problem with me. She doesn't live rent free in my head - I'm just entertained that people focus on the weirdest things in my videos and feel the necessity to gently advise me on my behaviour. As I say - I barely take advice from myself let alone from a stranger.

I wish I had my current degree of self confidence and assurance and ease with myself 50 years ago; If what I know now was transferable to my younger self I'd have rocked my teenage and transition years to adulthood. And I wish I knew than that I didn't have to like everyone or try to make people like me; that I could be an adult and avoid people with whom I wasn't comfortable, or just be civil and work with them without issues. @@tracyjacoby2382

Suzi, I think the beautydaughtermom criticised everything about my practices, but one lady criticised me for telling Adrian the issues. Fortunately I don't take advice from viewers; I barely take advice from myself.

I never noticed how big a bat's heart looks in comparison to the rest of its body. Is it much larger compared to humans? I mean, I know it's not really bigger, but in comparison to body size?
@Megabattie10 ай бұрын
They need a big heart to pump all the oxygenated blood around their body in flight; flight is very energy intensive
@debbiej.216810 ай бұрын
@@Megabattie I figured that was why, but was still surprised at how big it was.
@Megabattie10 ай бұрын
Interestingly, microbats have even larger hearts in proportion to their body size: Our results confirmed that bats have the largest relative heart and lung size of all mammals. This is associated with the high energetic costs of flight. As expected, the mass-specific lung and heart sizes of small bats were larger than those of large bats. @@debbiej.2168

Meg what did u give Wheelybin before she awakened? You injected 2 different medicines I think…. How do spell the bruising medicine?❤
@Megabattie9 ай бұрын
Hirudoid for bruising. It breaks down the bruising in the tissues and disperses it faster. I gave her saline as fluids; the come in prepackaged syringes of 5 mls so I gave her 2 syringes full in through the same needle.

@@Megabattienot familiar with the topical, is it a naturally derived product or a medication? In the states, we have a topical anti-inflammatory and a natural preparation with Arnica which helps swelling/bruising.
@Megabattie9 ай бұрын
I think it's derived from leeches; the name suggests. Hirudine is the name referring to leeches like bovine is cows, feline is cats. It's commercial and actually does work; hospitals use it for phlebitis from drips tissuing. @@katiekane5247
