@@blkwisdom101amoah3 So every excuse you made to justify these actions can be readily corrected if Juwan held a higher standard of conduct. A time out isn’t disrespect in as much as Juwan pressing. I would expect those two initial instances if seen with a higher set of conduct nothing would have happened. But Juwan couldn’t let it go, he wouldn’t even listen to the other coach so he put his finger in his face. Now did the other coach put his finger on Juwans face? No he didn’t. All Greg Gard had to do is not grab Juwan by the arm and try to stop him from walking to try and explain himself (which in my opinion did not have to explain himself to Howard and all was done by the book) and he would have breezed right by him and that could have been that and then later on spoke to him with cooler temps and all would have been good. Obviously Gard felt some type of way about calling the time out for some reason if he felt he had to grab Juwan by the arm and stop him from continuing to walk by to try and justify why he called the time out. If I'm walking by you and you touch me to stop me, I'm going to interpret that as an act of aggression. And also yelling from a distance after all said and done doesn't help much to de-escalate the situation. Now for Howard though, I know it was his temper that grabbed his jacket. He wanted to do something right there, but he caught himself and let him go. I'm not gonna say that was a slap or a punch because it doesn't matter. He struck another person out of anger when he is supposed to be a professional and a role model to the athletes. In my opinion, both need to be punished and both need to apologize to everyone. Punishment should fit previous records but also Howard more harsh for striking someone. Maybe anger management may be the best course of action from what I understand

The guy don't have rights over another perons body to be grabbing and restricting their freedom of movement . He probably told the guy not to touch him but he still kept his hand on him , but I guess the narrator didn't lip read that . I would have forcibly removed his hand off my arm and if he attempted to keep his hand on my body while blocking my path then I would have taken it as a physical threat to my person . It was just an exchange of words until the Wisconsin coach made it physical by grabbing the arm , not touch the arm but grabbed the arm . The Michigan coach supposed of been the " angy " one according to the narrator but it was the Wisconsin coach that grabbed and confronted the " angry " coach who was trying to walk by . Go figure . Punches, suspensions, fines, and damaged reputations because Howard didn't approve of a timeout another coach had the right to take just as Howard had the right to keep pressing. Coach Gard is responsible for this incident because he shouldn't put his hand to Coach Howard, if he wants to explain something I can send an email later on.

So you’re saying it’s ok for one time to “play out the game” but not the other?? Cmon. Be consistent. Why do you say it’s not ok? He’s coaching up second/third stringers who have probably never been in this position. Why is it wrong to call the TO?
@ScoutWithBryan2 жыл бұрын
“Running up the score” is wrong. Basketball ethics are that if a team down 10-15 whatever wants to still play hard til the end they can…but if you’re up 10+ in the last say 10 seconds & try to score, that’s kinda bush league. There is respect for the game. I took no issue w Wisc still trying to score w 50 seconds left, still defending hard, etc. You have a full walk on lineup in essentially of guys who don’t really matter to your team besides practice. Them taking a shot with 5 seconds left instead of dribbling out is basically the equivalent of what gard did. You don’t need a timeout to “rescue” those guys. Get the game over with, & if you win by 13 instead of 15 big whoop. That’s my opinion & you’re free to disagree, but I understand why Howard took offense to the timeout. Doesn’t change the fact that his behavior was totally uncalled for.
@timfus2 жыл бұрын
@@ScoutWithBryan Thanks for the explanation. Why do you assume Wisconsin was trying to score with 10 seconds left? Maybe they were just trying to run out the clock. Why does it matter if you lose by 13 or 15? Let em run out the clock. No big whoop 😁
@ScoutWithBryan2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t assume that, I was saying that to me taking a timeout there just to avoid a ten second turnover is the equivalent of trying to score w 10 seconds left. It gives the impression of almost running up the score. You’re up big - take one turnover. It was just a silly unnecessary timeout.

@andyh33002 жыл бұрын
It’s considered poor sportsmanship. The timeout isn’t gonna change the outcome of the game, you’re just drawing it out to run up the score. The difference is most coaches have the maturity to not throw a temper tantrum, but Michigan is known to be crybabies when they don’t win.

Respectfully disagree. If you are upset about what the other team is legally doing at the end of the game. Then play harder and smarter and better! NBA all stars give up the ball to avoid TO stats on end of game plays. Don't like it? Don't lose!

Excellent breakdown ... Getting in Howard's path and touching him is clear harassment - never purposely block a man's path when he does not want to engage.
@roachlake55122 жыл бұрын
Harrassment? OK. Have Howard file a suit against Gard for harassment and see how that goes. You are also conveniently ignoring Howard's remark to Gard before anyone was touched. All because Howard didn't like a TO the other coach had every right to take. The whole thing is absurd.

Gard just doesn't touch is elbow, he gets in front of him. And that assistant is not innocent! After he says something, Williams(Michigan player) starts yelling at him then Howard swings. Howard just doesn't "catch sight of a dude", as you put it🙄.. And like other guys have pointed out, none of this happens until Gard STOPS Howard. Howard should be suspended...

@Jason Bell I'm speaking on two specific things within the entire situation. Did Juwan overreact AFTER these 2 things, sure. But Gard had no right to try to stop him from walking past. It's funny how pointing is considered "very aggressive" but the grabbing is brushed off as if THAT didn't start it. That same grab would have been considered assault if Juwan did it. 🤷🏾♂️

It honestly doesn’t seem like the initial grab was done with any ill intentions but Howard was clearly pissed so maybe don’t try to force a conversation on him in that moment. A phone call after the fact should’ve been made.

I don’t know why this is funny to me. So Coach Howard told you he was agitated and didn’t want to shake your hand or hear your excuse about the timeout situation. Gard should have let Coach Howard walk by. Instead he grabbed his arm to force him to listen. Not good. Don’t put your hands on anyone. It would not have escalated if he hadn’t. Should Coach Howard have shown restraint when the assistant came talking more smack, yes! It too late for restraint though when you’ve already been unnecessarily touched and you’re already angry. Again this is hilarious. Thanks for sharing. GO BLUE!!
@roachlake55122 жыл бұрын
Howard didn't tell him that. He only said, "I won't forget this." And Gard wanted to explain there was no disrespect meant. He shouldn't have touched him...but did Howard have to react that way? And end up throwing a punch? It's sad.
@Jdevil212 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I think he called time out because they were playing press man. If they weren’t playing press man he doesn’t call the time out. Shell if the other team wants to play press ignoring that the game is over. Then you shouldn’t be upset when he calls a time out
@joshuadixon62552 жыл бұрын
Gard doesn't have a right to explain himself just because he felt like it at the time. That conversation should be mutual. Howard was absolutely wrong with that swing though.

@chrishunt96752 жыл бұрын
Of course Howard probably regrets it but just call or text the guy after the game if you see he’s pissed. Bobby Knight would have done the same thing. If you look closely looks like the assistant went after the player and that’s what Howard was looking at. But this is a play on. That’s sports.
@roachlake55122 жыл бұрын
Chris. I am not sure Bobby Knight is a good example. He got his ass fired and embarrassed Indiana. Juwan is above that. It pained me to see what happened. Who gives a rats ass about a time out? Shine it on. I am sure Gard regrets touching Juwan too. The whole damn thing spun out of control. But that Johnny Davis sure can play. We should be celebrating him.
@ndixon882 жыл бұрын
The breakdown is accurate however u are not emphasizing that Wisconsin coach only called that timeout to give his bench players a chance to SCORE. Not just get across half court. And then he tried to explain it away with the 10 second clock reset like Juwan is an idiot . That’s what made him so mad. But ur breakdown afterwards is accurate. Coaches shouldn’t put their hands on players regardless either though.

Don’t put your hands on another grown man period, should’ve just let Juwan Howard walk by and not touch him at all, especially if he’s a little bothered or maybe even ticked off like you said. But all of this was uncalled for, Howard definitely deserves to be suspended.
@tiarahood75332 жыл бұрын
The problem is it doesn't matter if he wanted to explain his self or not you don't put your hands on a grown man to stop him to explain your point when he doesn't want to hear it. The problem is white people don't realize that is very offensive to black people. White people need to learn how to accept no. When a person of color feel like you have all the control and they have none that's when things like this happen. It's a teachable moment for everyone. Guys learn how to keep your hands to yourself and accept no for no then we won't have these issues.
