I would like to add, that I am a divorced mother of 2 boys since 2010 and I never understood why Talaaq is the absolute last resort. Because only when you are a single woman and mother for so long do you understand everything marriage protects you from. May Allah guide our men and sons to understand their responsibilities to our women and daughters. Allah hu Akbar!

This just reminded of this ayat كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ ۗ وَلَوْ آمَنَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُمْ ۚ مِنْهُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ Sura aal e imran verse 110 You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allāh. If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.

I'm starting to connect with it in a way I didn't even know was possible سبحان الله والحمد لله على فضله. And of course, I have a newfound appreciation for Surat al Nisa'! May Allah forgive me for saying this but I wish there was a Surah about divorced women, not sure what exactly Allah Knows Best but I feel like the community looks so down upon divorced women like as if they are now "stained" or "dirty" no one wants to marry a divorced women esp who has a child unless the man has a odd situation.. divorced women are like spare parts who have no worth and I'm speaking from experience.. it's so unfair and the funny thing is even those men who follow Islam to the T they overlook the fact that prophet Muhammad Pbuh married divorcees and widowers.. I've been struggling to marry for 5 years and it's not like I haven't spread the word but the way the community replies to when we speak of a divorced women looking to marry is just disgusting and shallow. I know I am exactly where Allah wants me to be but in general I wish we all respected one another and their situations more and feared Allah more. I dont have extensive knowledge of all the surahs and Hadith's (still learning) so if there's anything anyone could suggest reading or looking into please be my guest. May Allah guide us all closer to the right path ameen Allahumma Ameen 🙏

I’m so sorry about your challenges. We still have a long way to go when it comes to the way the Ummah responds to divorced women. There are verses of the Quran that talks about divorce. Hopefully, Sheikh talks extensively about it in this series

Sh. Abdullah stressed "wise arbiters" in a potential divorce to be male relatives - a father, uncle, grandfather or even a great-grand father. We will go up the family tree, conspicously avoiding women. Please note that arbiters can also be female; a wise matriarch in the form of a mother, aunt or grandmother. Being wise and emotionally intelligent should be the criteria for fair mediation, not gender. Sometimes the men in families are far from wise.
