I know this was 4 years ago but still cool. I have the next level model JVC GR SXM37U. Slight differences from your model with a 25X optical zoom and a 1000X digital zoom. I bought it brand new back in 2004 at Walmart $600 give or take "ouch" but that was new technology time lol. Today it still performs flawless with 2nd or 3rd battery now. But I use the A/C adapter for longer recording periods. Too bad they couldn't develop "Stereo" audio being this was Super VHS. Nice presentation you made on yours.

Exactly the same for me. I got the same exact camera at goodwill yesterday in perfect condition with a bag and accessories for 20 bucks! And they left a tape of this girl with her new baby in it. Thanks.

The 62m on the cassette wrapper is the length of the tape in meters, not the EP run time. EP on a TC-30 cassette is 90 minutes. ET stands for Expansion Technology.

I love the SVHS format. I use full size SVHS tapes for home videos. I keep my original ones on computer and for everyday watching i put them on SVHS.

I have the same camcorder I used it when I was in high school they couple months back but I want to get a video capturing device for my computer so I can digitize them but my computer does not have a keyboard or mouse yet but when I get that stuff I'm going to digitize my videos and put them on DVD and One last thing you did a good job on the video keep up the good work

I have a JVC GR-AXM710u camera and film in vhs -c standard quality but, the camera has internal memory for 30 photos and has a serial cable to move pictures to the PC.

The TC-30 tape can record 30 min in SP and 90 in EP/SLP. The 62m on the tape means 62 meters for the length of tape in the cassette. The ET designation means “expansion technology” to allow S-VHS recording on regular VHS tape. Not sure why JVC felt the need to refine the S-VHS technology further from that but I’m sure there is a video on KZbin that can better explain that.

I found my families old camcorder (this exact model) and it still plays videos. I just can’t record, I bought new tapes but when I go to record the screen stays blue with the message “lens cap” even when the cap is off. Is there a way to fix it?

I hope your still active on this page. I have a question. I recently just purchased an analog camcorder and I was curious about the the date/time overlay. How do you get that to record with the video? Does it do it automatically or do you have to set it? Also how do you customize the text for example towards the end of the video your display had “Happy Birthday” can I customize it to say anything or is it preset texts

The date/time is something that you configure. Usually if not set, it will simply not be present when recording.
