Why do black levels never get talked about :-(, that's like the most important thing especially with projectors. Would of been good to hear your thoughts on the infinity contrast level claims on the JVC

Were there any adjustments for how much hdr effect is used? Kind of like how on the Epson projectors you have a slider and I always use that to adjust for ambient light.

5050 is pretty solid. the others tend to do just one specific thing better nz3 has great 1080p picture suffers on 4k hdr, it gets dimmer. the optoma has great colors but overall sharpness suffers

Hey HTD, do you have any issues with the color of your walls and ceiling? I've read guys say that you should go with an all black Matte paint for a theater room. But your colors are sorta on the lighter side. Have you noticed any reflections off your walls from the light from your projector screen?

That would be true if I didnt have an ALR screen. This is a black diamond alr screen which rejects ampbient light and severely decreases light scatter into the room. If you have a pure gray screen or a white screen then yes, paint your room black., But at the same time I have seen White screens in a black environment and its still filled with light scatter.... sooo I chose to leave my room the way it is with the ALR screen :)

Hi There. I am in great need of advice when it comes to the projector, and whether or not you recommend speakers behind a transparent screen. I have been quoted on a JVC DILA 1000K projector, Optoma UHD65 4K UHD and this JVC lx-NZ3 4K. Also, what receiver and ceiling speakers would you recommend? Sorry for all the questions. Teach People How To Treat You speakers behind a screen is fine as long as you are using an acoustically transparent screen. Are you asking for prices of those projectors? I like denon or marantz receivers in ceilings I would go kef or Martin logan

I listed those 3 because I had been quoted on those ranging up to $6,999 CAD for the JVC, but am wondering if I should be looking at SONY or something else. What is a good value projector that is great quality...and less than $7K? And which speaker system is better for sound, behind screen or not? I understand about the transparent screen thing. Did you try the cinescope instead of 16:9 ? Is there a memory that you can save the screen size?

no. its is 16x9 projector that displays 16x9 only. you cannot change the formats

Not sure if this has been asked. If I were to do all in ceiling speakers, would that provide the best surround sound for my area. I have gone through a variety of speakers Polk, Klipsch, SVS to Def Tech ; Towers, shelf, bi-polar. I recently met with a home theater specialist, and he recommended that I completely go all in ceiling. I’m confused because I have never heard of this before. Please help me out and guide me in the right direction. I’ve been a follower to this channel for a min now. And I have much respect for your input. Please help me out.

Well, to be completely honest I was told I should keep the center, left, and right channels and place them in wall and the rest should be in ceiling.

its common before 2010 to put all 5.0 speakers into the ceiling. Now if you every plan on any form of atmos put your speakers inwalls or use standard floor standing speakers. I prefer floor standers and then some in ceilings for heights. But if you have no choice then go with what works for your needs

there IS A difference for sure. I already sent back the nx5 before i could compare them. I think if you have the extra cash. I really think the nx7 is a great option. it looks amazing hasa fair amount of brightness over the nx5 and also has that Cinema filter which gives you almost 100% of dci-p3 color space.

If it has the same number of pixels as a 4k signal how is it not considered 4k? I always thought the pixel count is what the difference was between different signals like 1080p vs 4k. If this isnt the case than what I'd the difference between 1080p and 4k?

The DLP chip in this unit is not a 4K chip but it is capable of producing a very clear "true 4k image." The DLP chip does this by rapidly shifting the mirrors towards and away from the light source. These micro mirrors are so fast that they can easily produce 8 million pixles of "true 4k material."

Hi Chris! I only have 700 bucks for a new sub. I picked up the Klipsch couple months ago for $ 270 and the pb2000 is going for 700 right now at svs I can get it right now. I want to upgrade my Klipsch r12sw and get a Svs pb2000 do you think it’s worth the upgrade?

Was this projector calibrated? If it was what tools did you use. What color temperature did you end up with? A professionally calibrated projector is leaps and bounds above and non calibrated unit. The noise alone is a put off to me as the projector would be close to my head. It's not like projectors haven't been out for a long time and there is no reason why someone paying thousands of dollars should have to put up with noise coming from them.

@mark kaupas more lumens more heat even for a laser projector. You have to cool the projector down somehow.Plus if you watched the video all the way through to the end there is a setting that was enhancing the high pitched sound.

I did watch the whole video, in fact The Home Theater Dude discusses the whine or excessive noise when the projector is actually receiving a signal vs no signal. The discussion about the noise starts around 5:00 not at the end of the video. The reason I would not buy this projector is because there are a few DLP laser projectors on the market which are actually fairly quite as noted from the individual reviewing the projectors and putting the same amount of lumens.

Optoma UHZ65’s operations menu functionality is nowhere at the same level as the JVC LX-NZ3B. That feature alone makes this Pj much better. As far as the Epson models... I think most will agree that Epson kicks serious butt for the money.

@@sonicchill1 Epson just decided that they were going to shoot for 4K at normal viewing distances. My friend has a 4K native Sony and at 7-10ft 100" screen they look identical as for as sharpness goes for most content (up close yes the SONY has the pixels and it rocks so if you sit close go Native 4K) Epson took the savings and used it to add features like Lens memory, deeper blacks, brighter picture while maintaining great color and for the 5050/6050 superb HDR10 performance. It outperforms the under 5Grand native projectors at normal viewing distances IMHO but I know some will disagree. People who are pixel fixated will comment on every Epson video like they know some secret that the Epson is Faux K. They assume it is not as good but so many factors go into what makes a good projector. That said the Optoma UHZ65 and the 60 have a great picture but less features then the Epson.

You really should consider investing in some real acoustic panels. That type of foam is terrible at both absorption and diffusion. Look into either DIY, GIK, Real Traps, or MSR Acoustics.

Needs to be compared to the Optoma UHZ-65 because don't care about lamps. They are hotter and dim too fast even though people pretend they don't. I've use the uhz65 and regardless of what the JVC brainwashed heads say, I didn't see a real problem with the black levels in a dark room. The brighter colors and no lamp dimming and less heat and long life out weight any of the other stuff. Some rather just watch test patterns anyway.
