Here in Brazil this model was licenced by brazilian brand called Gradiente, here it is known as Gradiente DD-200Q. There's also model DD-100Q that is not fully automatic. In general is a great piece of equipment direct drive with quartz locked RPM generator.

I also don’t have a strobe light under the disk. How did you solve the problem with the strobe backlight?

After all, this JVC TT isn't too bad after all. JVC designed some excellent audio components as well; and they build beside Sony & DENON the best electronically gimbeld TTs ever ☝️

@@12voltvids right, but IMHO all Corps had problems with some kind of error prone technology like VCR, DAT. I realized that you fiddle around quite often with these gears ... 😉

@@12voltvidsOh come on, the early 1980s top loaders, sold under the Ferguson and various Thomson brands in Europe, were very reliable and there are still thousands of functional ones still going. A damned sight better than most other brands of the time including Sony's efforts.

@@jasejj where do you fine the idler tires that needed replacing yearly regardless if you used them if not? They also certainly not more reliable when there were kids in the house. The about if crap I pulled out if these machines. At least with the front loaders a locking door was available on some models and after market covers could be clipped in on others. Then the plastic threading gear on the panasonic top loaders and the worm gear on the main cam on all those jvcs. The black grease that turned to glue.

Great video with fixing the turntable. Meanwhile, get some flu tablets and maybe cough drops and rest. Maybe do light duties with repair until you get better again. Flu is no good for anybody. A discomforting feeling for sure. So I guess no Thanksgiving Turkey for you for Thursday.? Do they celebrate it in Canada? I wonder. Not in Australia though.

I would disagree about JVC. I have 2 cassette decks, CD player, portable CD player, receiver....all perfect. Have outlived technics, Kenwood, and others. But then again, you've seen a lot more than I have!

I did say I have a TDV1010 and it is fantastic, but much of their stuff was junk including a camera I paid 7,000 for and failed after only about 240 hours of use.

Any idea what the regular clicking from the motor was all about? Sounded similar (but higher frequency) to a Sony DD turntable I had which had a ball bearing in the drive shaft with a flat spot.

I had the ceiling fan running to circulate the heat whick had been on before the shoot.

@@12voltvidsI know you worked on mini dv vcrs before do you use alchol to clean them or does it have to be something else for metal tape?

@@stpworld cleaning tape or fingernail. Might work on a big DV deck today i picked up for pennies on the dollar.
