My hats off to you on discovering the magnet installed 180 degrees off. You never know what to expect when someone else has been in something and then you have to figure it out. Good job!

Love how you eventually discovered the cause of the black bar across the middle of the picture (the heads were out of phase) and corrected it with a simple adjustment of the magnet (proving the heads are probably still OK). That can be easy for some technicians to overlook when they serviced those machines a few years ago. All of this "repair work" done with virtually no new parts or special tools required. Not only that, you saved the owner a bit of money and a lot of your time on it. A win-win all-round. I hope the owner appreciates your efforts as I do seeing some of them in this video. You brightened up my Monday public holiday. 2 thumbs up. :)

That is the commercial version of my dead JVC which was just about new when I'm pretty certain a power spike killed it (fuse was no blown, so it's beyond me) and it was one of the last models they put out that is S-VHS at 480p, so I miss it! :( Great troubleshooting and I really love the fact that you are "pro-active" with your repairs looking out for your customers (contact cleaner). The sprint tension fix was the "perfect" solution that will last. Why do engineers "under-engineer" when it doesn't adverse effect form-fit-function or make any cost savings? Dumb... Great info and catch on the head orientation. Why would anyone change the "timing" like that??? And finally, good clean, tight belt! :) KUTGW

Hello. I have a lg dvd-vhs combo vcr. The first 10-15 minutes show bad. Then it gets better. I tried many different cassettes same problem. I wonder what the problem might be. Sorry google translation

...... I was watching that movie, how rude ! Don't forget, on some models the tape sensors can react to your room lights, (With the lid off).

Yep you're correct. What I used to do when I worked on some of these years ago was place the top cover upside down over the machine while playing a tape to test. Seemed to work well (and blocked most of the overhead light).

HI Norcal, looks you are no longer in the TV repair business? What's the reason? I bet you still can fix TVs as you did in the past..
@norcal7154 жыл бұрын
Because of the throwaway society we live in. It is just not justified to put $150 into a 50inch tv when a new one is just a few $$$ more!

A perfect example of why people who have no fucking clue should ever try to fix something.
