The first-ever full-length theatrical LEGO movie follows Emmet an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person (the MasterBuilder) and the key to saving his LEGO world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers -- including an old mystic (voiced by Morgan Freeman) and LEGO Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) -- on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together -- a journey for which Emmett is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared. Now the fate of the world is in his tiny yellow hands. Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks and more also provide voices in this family adventure from the filmmakers behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Prepare yourself for...the greatest movie ever assembled!

The part where Will Ferrell's character realizes that his son thinks of him as the villain, the bad guy, is just heartbreaking. That would have to kill. Especially when he says "You don't have to be the bad guy, you are the most talented most extraordinary person in the universe." If I had a kid, and they said something like that to me, I don't think I could take it. I would feel like the world's biggest failure.

its also shows how much the kid looks up to his Dad. Lord Business IS a Masterbuilder... maybe the best masterbuilder in that LEGO-World. He created the entirety of all the worlds the kid plays in. He had the vision to make a Project so massive and cohesive and yet so varied and full of potential. His structures have cohesion and stability. They are not random and crazy, but build a univrse. His only fault: he cant stand it when people deviate from this vision. HE doesnt want people to be creative on their own. His son reminds him of that and they Both Bond over their shared love for creating and playing. Its a beautiful lesson about that Both creative minds and those with patience and vision can learn from each other and together create something none of them could ever create on their own. something that isnt just creative, but also has sense to it and structure. All the greatest Projects use Both. This movie is a wonderfull kids movie. Highly recommended.

I've never been much of a Will Farrell fan. But his acting when he realizes that he's the villain of his son's story, rams a dagger into your heart as a dad.

Tbh I didn't like that part of the movie, wish they kept the son not known because since he's God and has the Hand, just really kills the magic and mystery.
@liljenborg2517
@liljenborg2517 2 жыл бұрын
@@artistanthony1007 Ah, but Finn (the boy) WASN'T God. "The Man Upstairs" was the Dad. If you're going to do a spiritual analysis of the film it's about a god (he's all seeing, all controlling, creator of the world) not wanting people to break his arbitrary rules so he's going to glue them all in place. So, god becomes a Satan figure (given his flaming, horned helmet, that's kind of obvious) because he's trying to force the world to conform to his idea of "complete perfection" and to stop them from "ruining my stuff". Finn is a kind of Jesus figure (he lives in both the "real world" and the lego world through Emmett) who's trying to get the god to lighten up and let people freely create without boundaries. If you're trying to view the movie as some sort of religious allegory, it's theologically a bit off.

The real-life aspect of this movie came completely out of left field, and I was kind of shocked how well it worked to tie into family relations and parents having a hobby that their kid looks at and wants to be a part of. Lego Movie 2 is also pretty high quality, you're kind of expecting the twist so it's a little more loosely woven, but it still has an emotional impact. Hope that you'll put it on your list, I'd like to see your reaction to it.

i don't think i'm exaggerating when i'm saying this movie is absolutely brilliant. this could have gone wrong very easy just being another corporate cash grab to make some quick buck from a beloved franchise, but they absolutely nailed it. kudos to the writing team. The script IS "absolutely brilliant". Emmet needs to learn how to become a "master builder", someone who can write his own directions and be creative. He's such a follower, at the start of the story, he almost has no personality of his own. On the other hand, the Master Builders (especially Lucy) need to learn that following directions isn't inherently bad. They have so much personality they're hiding their real selves trying to be "cool" with made up names like "Wyldstyle". They're so independent they can't work together, and when nobody is cooperating, what you build (like their submarine) falls apart. And they're snobbishly dismissive of the "normies". And that doesn't even get into the next layer when you add the Father and Son's story into the mix and pull THAT off, too. A script that can hit all those themes at the same time, _and work_ shoulda got a screenplay nod from those Oscars people.

The role playing that kids do when they were little were actually the roles that they see adults play. Once I witnessed a kid playing her dolls and it was weird when I heard her male doll break up with her female doll for the reason that he's found another female doll, and it actually happened to that kid's family. She was around 6 or 7 I think. This movie impressed me. Great concept too, using the story of the son and the dad.

I'm old enough to remember when "Benny" was new. My brother and I had a bunch of those first generation Space Legos they introduced in the wake of Star Wars. And Benny's Spaceship looks just like the massive Lego ships we used to build and fly around the neighborhood making strafing runs to blow out the engines of the Space Battleships (the tail lights of parked cars) and avoid the black hole (the sewer grate in the center of the cul-de-sac around the corner).

Then the dad comes in & he's wearing a suit with a red tie & immediately you realise the kid has been picturing the dad as the villain who wants to superglue everything, even before the dad figures it out.

I literally just watched the Lego movie 2 yesterday and I gotta say they are so good! There’s a video on KZbin that talks about how this movie was inspired by home stop motion videos made with Lego, and even pays homage to one of the first ones with the “magic portal” tube that’s what the short was called I think. But yeah it’s great how they manage to do everything with actual Lego pieces… I love it.

As I understand it, THE LEGO MOVIE was CGI, but they wanted to make it look like stop-motion, with "solid" pieces that didn't move or bend in any way that real Lego could not. There are any number of movies where the hero seems to sacrifice him/herself, but we know it's not real -- WRECK-IT RALPH comes to mind; we see him being rescued the moment he "sacrifices" himself. LEGO almost fooled me -- there's a considerable amount of time passing before we know Emmett is still alive. Was it all in the kid's mind? Emmett starts moving (sort of) in the human world . . . I vote for the LEGO BATMAN MOVIE too!
@camerongiannopulos6952

The reason it looks so real is because they individually created the pieces digitally, and then would craft everything in the movie like you would in real life. This movie was visually stunning because of that. Each piece is an individual Lego piece digitally rendered.

The movie is mostly CG. The main animation studio behind it was Animal Logic from Australia.

Have you ever heard of Gravity Falls? It’s a Disney cartoon with two seasons full of fun jokes and sometimes dark themes that make people question if it’s really for kids lol. Or just adult jokes that kids will never understand. Although it *is* targeted for people of all ages, it has huge mind blowing mysteries that’ll definitely keep you on your toes! And much deeper lore than you’d expect. I guarantee that you’ll cry by the end of it. I definitely suggest checking it out if you haven’t!

Code Lyoko is way more mature than Gravity Falls, literally go watch Plauged, Ghost Channel and William Returns and you'll see nothing in GF compares to those episodes.

The only piece in this movie that is known for being hard to remove is the cap of Krazy Glue. The Piece of Resistance being the anti-Lego piece which serves all of Legodom is the Piece de Resistance.

It's so not serious, and serious at the same time. That golden middle is very hard to catch, and with that kind of uncertain project, it's one in a billion chance they'll get it right. And they did

You gotta watch the Sword in the Stone soon. It is amazing and also I love legos too. I just gotten a 1989 Lego Batmobile and it took me a whole week to build for my 19th birthday

What you have to remember is that everything that happens in this movie is from the imagination of an eight-year-old boy. So things explode because eight-year-old boys like explosions. Robots sound like an eight-year-old boy trying to make a "robot voice." Etc. Everything in the movie is made of Legos (virtual ones, since it's CGI, but still real Legos) and all the characters are Lego minifigs - so since Lego did DC superhero sets, Batman can be in the movie. Since they did Star Wars sets, Lando and C3P0. The Simpsons...Milhouse.
