nobody knows when Glasnow and Kershaw will be ready, so really it's just Yamamoto and Ohtani (even that is unsure because of his world series injury). Dodgers had a plethora of starting pitching in 2024 and still fell short of available SP in World Series. Dodgers will stack up..
@pardeepsekhon158222 сағат бұрын

It's already been confirmed Glasnow will be ready for spring training. No timetable on Kersh yet which is ok cus the Dodgers have a ton of depth to fill any voids. It will be a 6-man rotation to limit the amount of injuries (god willing) eventhough we already know it's inevitable that someone will be on the IL at some point in time during the season. I honestly say that whatever is happening behind the scene, Sasaki will sign with the Dodgers. Ohtani and Yamamoto are his idols, and they all played together for WBS and during that period, they reported that Sasaki's desire to go to MLB grew tremendously because of mostly Ohtani's influence. Who wouldn't want to go to the Dodgers where his two idol players are playing? But Sasaki needs to be groomed in the minor league to become a better MLB pitcher. meanwhile, the Dodgers I think, will need to sign with Buehler or Fried, or both. When you think about what happened to the Dodgers' pitchers this season, you just could not have too many pitchers. The more you have, the better it is.

With 3 Japanese pitchers *and* the injury-prone Glasnow, a 6-man rotation has to be considered mandatory in LA, so open up another spot in the rotation for Buehler or Fried.
@cryptobill618823 сағат бұрын
Japangeles Dodgers! Yeah! Seriously, though, if Dodgers sign Sasaki, then Buehler will sign elsewhere (hopefully AL)...I think Dodgers still go for Fried, because Fried was on radar before Sasaki announcement and Fried would be the Kershaw replacement after Kershaw retires as both are lefties. BTW, with Dodgers juggernaut, doesn't that create ripple effect for SF and SD making FA signings because players will always see LA as the top of the Western division which will make it harder for SF or SD to make the playoffs, so why would anybody want to play for SF or SD except just for $$ during this golden Dodgers era?

With the Dodgers going to a 6-man rotation, there is indeed room for Walker and Roki and maybe one more starter. Especially early in the season when you have Ohtani being delayed to start. Roki might not be fully healthy either. You also need to see how things shake out with Glasnow's elbow in spring. And let's not forget Yamamoto came back early from rehab in September because the club just absolutely needed arms. So there's no clear-cut healthy guys this off season. I think the guy who looked the healthiest was Walker, but he's a FA for now.

How does ANYONE beat that starting 4? And it's not like the Dodgers have no offense 😮 they have arguably the best offense as well. I'm a Yankees fan born and raised, if this happens, the reast of MLB - Good Luck. If the Yankees sign Soto, Burns, and Walker..... AND they would need something notable from Dominguez and Durbin? If the Dodgers get Sasaki the Yankees and everyone else who WANTS to contend for a WS shot gotta go NUTS AND $$PEND

How the tables have turned. Yankees were THAT team in the 90s and 00s.
@3SonsRC2 сағат бұрын
@am3lagrimas410 yes true, the yankess spent more than anyone back then. But now days it's closer, with Boston, Dodgers, Astros, Mets, Phillies, Rangers, Cubs etc all within range of the Yankees, but with like $60 million Defered for Ohtani, and if they get Sasaki for free pretty much - Good luck everyone else. Today there is more parody because of the luxury tax, so when the Dodgers deferring money and foreign played seemingly colluding to play for the same team (for free.... Not really but Sasaki is almost free), how is anyone going to beat that? So yes the Yankees spent more back in the day, but everyone else could back then as well, they just were not willing to, now teams can only spend so much and they get penalized so you see top teams like I just mentioned, but when you have arguably the best team out there with top three salary doing some questionable/smart (?) things it gonna be less balanced over the next 5-10 years. I think Defered contracts need to be banned, just gives too much competitive advantage to whatever team can pull it off, and if you get 1-2 big players to do deferred it is like adding another 60-80m a year to payroll they don't have to pay now.

@karlosrules23 сағат бұрын
I get the advertising money thing and wanting to be a star…. But how has that worked out for Yu Darvish? He has his endorsements but not to the extent of Ohtani or Yanmamoto. And Anaheim is only 30 minutes away from LA.

Yamamoto missed 3 months injured his first season, Ohtani has had 2 TJ surgeries, and Roki is often injured in Japan. Not necessarily a great staff long-term. And if Sasaki goes to Padres, their top four are certainly comparable to Dodgers top four, with health and age being a big wildcard.

Two things, it’s not like the dodgers are going to pay him the most, he’s gonna be treated like a top international signing, so he can technically go anywhere. 2 yeah it’s nice to play with ohtani and Yamamoto his country men….but roki should be banking on endorsements, it’s hard to maximize his endorsements opportunities with ohtani getting all the endorsements and being in ohtanis shadow.

Considering that he isn't coming from Japan, straight into a long-term 8+ year contract with someone is the biggest reason for why signing with the Dodgers is a goddamn no brainer for him. He can come to the best team/organization. With the two biggest Japanese stars(who can help him settle into a new culture). And, most importantly, he will be able to hone his skills and then hit free agency before he hits 30 and will, probably, be in the prime of his career. With all that, it really makes little sense for him to throw his hat in with anyone else.

Why Sasaki would probably choose the Dodgers There are Japanese players who can talk during the game The Dodgers are strong, so even if he gives up 4 runs, he has a chance to be the winning pitcher (Japanese people place a lot of importance on the number of wins) About 10 direct flights a day between Tokyo and LA LA has many Japanese restaurants and supermarkets Japanese and other Asian people are not uncommon, so it is easy to spend time here. Mild climate He already has some understanding of the Dodgers' players, team, fan atmosphere, and manager's philosophy because he has watched Otani's games. He believes that Ohtani postponed the payment of his salary to himself for his own sake. (A debt of gratitude to Ohtani.)
