JX405 A Catalina PBY5 Flying Boat, Test Flight SARO, Saunders Roe at Beaumaris Anglesey, 1940s F876b

During the Second World War, Saunders Roe (aka SARO) moved some of their operations from the Isle of Wight, to the Fryars Estate near Beaumaris in Anglesey, where less disruption was expected. Here we see rare footage from SARO of one of the first Consolidated PBY Catalinas to pass through the Fryars estate in Anglesey. A total of over 300 Catalinas were delivered to this location and later used by costal command.
This footage dates to around 1941-2, and has been captured on a digital scanner...as it was way too shrunk and broken for a projector!
The Catalina is a very pretty aircraft...seeing her handled so casually when needed in times of war is a little moving I think.
I have re-upload this without music because I am struggling to find any that suits the channel and is genuinely copyright free. If you know of any source please leave a comment.
